摘要： A side airbag installation in a backrest of a motor vehicle, the backrest having a stuffing covered by a covering material. An airbag module is disposed in a recessed area of the backrest and is encased by an interior bag. A rigid component is disposed on the backrest and extends about the recessed area thereof. A first trimming profile can be inserted into a U-shaped trimming channel (18) of the rigid component (10) in a positively connecting manner. Free ends of the interior bag are connected to the first trimming profile via a tear seam. A second trimming profile is also insertable into the trimming channel in a positively connected manner. One end of the covering material is connected to the second trimming profile.

The guide pocket guides the airbag, as it unfolds, to the opening line, and wraps around the airbag module and a component secured to the vehicle seat. The two front ends of the guide pocket are attached in the region of the opening line of the covering. The airbag module is secured to the component, and the guide pocket is placed from above or from below about the component and the airbag module and extends about the airbag module in a loop-shaped manner.

摘要： A collision protection device for the occupants of a motor vehicle having a fabric air bag having a top part, a bottom part and a plurality of catch belts arranged within the air bag. The catch belts are formed by the fabric segments of the reinforcing parts mounted on the inside of the top and bottom parts of the bag. The fabric segments being set in the direction of the interior space of the air bag and are sewn together in an overlapping configuration in the center zone to form a joint between the top and bottom parts of the air bag. Each of the catch belts is at least double-layered and extends into the interior space between the top and bottom parts of the air bag, each of the layers being connected with each other in the joint formed at the center zone.

In a non-triggered state of the airbag module, the reinforcing insert is folded into a multi-layer folded region that extends substantially orthogonally relative to the opening line. Upon an opening of the airbag cushion at the opening line, vertical force components can be formed in the region of the multi-layer folded region.
