Abstract:
A puncture or gripper cylinder is provided with at least one puncture strip that is provided with gripper pins or point needles. These pins are extendable from the cylinder to puncture and to grip a signature. At least one deflector is carried on the puncture cylinder and is extendable and retractable with respect to a surface of the cylinder. The deflector, when it is extended at least temporarily shields the signature from subsequent pins.
Abstract:
A cutting device is used to accomplish the transverse cutting of at least a first material web. The cutting device includes a cutting cylinder and a first counter cylinder. These two cylinders rotate cooperatively and define a first gap through what a first transport path for the first web runs. The cutting cylinder has at least one cutting blade, that cuts a product off the web passing through the gap. The cutting cylinder also has a holding device for holding a cut product and for transporting it through the gap. The counter cylinder comprises a thrust bearing cooperating with the cutting blade.
Abstract:
A folding device includes a folding blade cylinder and a cooperating folding jaw cylinder, each of which has several circumferentially arranged holding devices. These holding devices can be moved between a disengaged position, where the leading end of a product can be inserted or released, and a holding position in which the product leading edge is held in the holding device. The folding blade cylinder and the folding jaw cylinder each have a number of holding devices equal to the respective number of folding blades and folding jaws. Each of the folding blades presses a product to be folded, and which is held by one of the holding devices on the folding blade cylinder, into a cooperating folding jaw on the folding jaw cylinder. This is accomplished during the passage of the product through a transfer slot between the folding blade cylinder and the folding jaw cylinder. An offset between each folding blade and its associated holding device is adjustable. The location of a holding device, and a subsequent folding blade is fixed. The offset between one of the holding devices of the folding blade cylinder and one of the folding blades that follows that holding device is less than a maximum offset between one of the holding devices and the folding blade that follows behind the folding device.

Abstract:
An adjustable cutting knife cylinder in a folder has one or more cutting blades or knives supported at the periphery of a cylinder body. Each blade or knife is adjustable both in a radial and in a circumferential direction. Separate adjusting assemblies are utilized to effect the radial and circumferential movements of the blade or blades.
Abstract:
A cylinder is usable for processing flat material and includes a cylindrical body, which can be rotated about a cylinder axis, and at least one group of a plurality of tools. These tools perform a working movement in relation to the cylindrical body and are coupled to first and second control levers. A fixed cam plate is followed by the first control lever of each tool. A rotating cover disk is followed by the second control lever of each tool. The cover disk comprises a plurality of congruent sectors each having at least one section with a first radius which allows that tool to accomplish its working movement. The cover disk sectors each also have at least one section with a second radius which blocks the working movement of the tool.
Abstract:
A cylinder, having a cylindrical body which is rotatable about a cylinder axis of rotation, is usable to process flat material. At least one group of a plurality of tools are distributed around the periphery of the cylinder body in a homogeneous manner. These tools are able to perform a working movement with respect to the cylindrical body and are coupled to a control device which effects that working movement. A first cam plate is traced by the control device of each tool group. A rotatable cover disk is also traced by the control device of each tool group. The cover plate is rotatable and is coupled, for its rotation, to the rotation of the cylinder. The cam plate has a peripheral section that controls the tool working movement, in cooperation with the control device. The control section covers a maximum of 1/n of the periphery of the cam plate, where n is a whole number integer equal to, or larger than 2, in addition to a section that does not control the working movement of the tool group and which constitutes the rest of the cam plate periphery. The cover disk includes a first group of sections of different radii, which are traced by the control device, and which control device also traces the sections of the cam disk during the rotations of the cylinder body. At least one of those cover disk sections has a first radius which enables cooperation between the control device and the cover disk section. At least one other of the sections has a second radius which blocks such cooperation. At least one second group of sectors is also provided on the cover disk and is arranged between two sections of the first group of sectors. The radii of the first sectors and the second sectors are not the same.
