Abstract:
A cutting device is used to accomplish the transverse cutting of at least a first material web. The cutting device includes a cutting cylinder and a first counter cylinder. These two cylinders rotate cooperatively and define a first gap through what a first transport path for the first web runs. The cutting cylinder has at least one cutting blade, that cuts a product off the web passing through the gap. The cutting cylinder also has a holding device for holding a cut product and for transporting it through the gap. The counter cylinder comprises a thrust bearing cooperating with the cutting blade.
Abstract:
A transport or conveying device is used in a folding apparatus for transporting or conveying signatures. A transport or conveying cylinder, which carries the signatures, is placed in cooperative engagement with another cylinder. A position of a terminal end of a signature carried on the transport or conveying cylinder can be altered. The other cylinder that cooperates with the transport or conveying cylinder includes devices that press on the signature and that displace the end of the signature.
Abstract:
A method of assembling and permanently binding a plurality of sheet-like materials includes assembling the sheets to be bound on a guide member by passing aligning pins on the guide member through aligned openings formed in the sheets, so that the adhesive on one sheet bonds to the inner edge of another adjacent sheet.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the production of books with wire or spiral bindings or other comparable bindings, wherein sub-layers (2) made of punched sheets are collected one over the other in a successive manner into a book (5) at a collecting station (3), and the book is subsequently bound. According to the invention, a sub-layer (2) is held in a clamped manner by at least one lateral clamping device (12) which moves together with the sub-layer while the sub-layer is transported into the collecting position, while the sub-layers (10) already collected at the collecting station (3) are held in a fixed manner by means of at least one needle (13) which is moved upwards through the punched holes (4) from below. The clamping of the pliers is released only when the needles (13) are also located in the punched holes (4) of the newly conveyed sub-layers (2) as a result of the needles being moved upwards.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for separating a web material are disclosed herein. The apparatus includes a bedroll and a chop off roll. The bedroll includes a bedroll blade and a bedroll web pin. The chop off roll includes a pin pad and a plurality of chop off roll blades. The bedroll web pin and the bedroll blade mesh with the pin pad and the chop off roll blades. The chop off roll blades are moved relative to the bedroll blade, stretching and separating the web material. The web pin perforates the web material and may completely or partially separate a portion of the web material. The web pin and the separated portion perforate the pin pad. The separated portion is stripped from the web pin as the pin passes out of the pin pad.

Abstract:
An automatic fabric pattern-matching apparatus for, a fabric (MA) which has a pattern continuous at least in the lateral direction and which is unwound and spread from a wound fabric (M) and is fed from one end thereof in the longitudinal direction of the fabric in a hanging manner via a feeding mechanism of the fabric pattern-matching apparatus. The surface of the hanging portion of the fabric (MA) fed in the hanging manner is read by a CCD camera functioning as an optical reading apparatus, so that the vertical position of the fabric (MA) is controlled for aligning the fabric pattern so as to form a lateral straight line, based on the read signal. As a result, disadvantageous phenomena such as bias or bowed patterns created by gravity are eliminated, thereby eliminating defective products due to the disadvantageous phenomena noted. Also, a pattern matching operation of a fabric, which is conventionally considered difficult, can be surely, precisely, and efficiently realized by the automatic fabric pattern-matching apparatus.
Abstract:
An enclosing device to insert an enclosure into an envelope conveyed to an enclosing position includes an envelope conveyor and an enclosing unit. The envelope conveyor conveys the envelope to the enclosing position. The enclosing unit opens a frontage of the envelope such that the enclosure is inserted into the envelope that has reached the enclosing position and includes an opening amount adjuster to adjust an opening amount of the frontage when the enclosure is inserted into the envelope. The opening amount adjuster adjusts the opening amount, depending on a flap length and a body length. The flap length is a length of a flap of the envelope in a conveyance direction in which the envelope is conveyed to the enclosing position. The body length is a length of a body of the envelope in the conveyance direction.
Abstract:
Needle gripper features a gripper unit with a gripping surface facing a workpiece to grip, and a needle carriage with a gripping needle. The needle carriage moves into an active position extending the gripping needle beyond the gripping surface by one needle stroke depth, and in a passive position retracting the gripping needle, and features a drive unit with a drive actuator driven forward/backward along a drive direction that couples to the needle carriage so it moves into the passive/active positions by driving the drive actuator forward/backward. A setting device for setting the needle stroke depth includes a guide carriage displaceable perpendicularly to the drive direction along a guide direction, and a stop for the guide carriage. The drive actuator couples via connection arm to the guide carriage so when the drive actuator moves backward, the guide carriage moves in the direction toward the stop, which prevents further backwards movement.
