Abstract:
A puncture or gripper cylinder is provided with at least one puncture strip that is provided with gripper pins or point needles. These pins are extendable from the cylinder to puncture and to grip a signature. At least one deflector is carried on the puncture cylinder and is extendable and retractable with respect to a surface of the cylinder. The deflector, when it is extended at least temporarily shields the signature from subsequent pins.
Abstract:
A folding device includes a folding blade cylinder and a cooperating folding jaw cylinder, each of which has several circumferentially arranged holding devices. These holding devices can be moved between a disengaged position, where the leading end of a product can be inserted or released, and a holding position in which the product leading edge is held in the holding device. The folding blade cylinder and the folding jaw cylinder each have a number of holding devices equal to the respective number of folding blades and folding jaws. Each of the folding blades presses a product to be folded, and which is held by one of the holding devices on the folding blade cylinder, into a cooperating folding jaw on the folding jaw cylinder. This is accomplished during the passage of the product through a transfer slot between the folding blade cylinder and the folding jaw cylinder. An offset between each folding blade and its associated holding device is adjustable. The location of a holding device, and a subsequent folding blade is fixed. The offset between one of the holding devices of the folding blade cylinder and one of the folding blades that follows that holding device is less than a maximum offset between one of the holding devices and the folding blade that follows behind the folding device.
Abstract:
A cutting device is used to accomplish the transverse cutting of at least a first material web. The cutting device includes a cutting cylinder and a first counter cylinder. These two cylinders rotate cooperatively and define a first gap through what a first transport path for the first web runs. The cutting cylinder has at least one cutting blade, that cuts a product off the web passing through the gap. The cutting cylinder also has a holding device for holding a cut product and for transporting it through the gap. The counter cylinder comprises a thrust bearing cooperating with the cutting blade.

Abstract:
A cylinder, which is part of a folder, includes a cylinder body with at least one gripper that can be moved between a retracted position within the cylinder body; an extended position, and a clamping position in which a tip of the gripper presses flat material against a surface section of the cylinder body. A pivot axis, about which the gripper pivots between its retracted position and its extended position, is within the cylinder body. A counterthrust element, which cooperates with a separate cutting blade, to cut the flat material which is to be gripped by the gripper, is associated with the cylinder body. The gripper is situated upstream of the counterthrust element, in the rotational direction of the gripper cylinder. A second axis, about which the gripper moves in the peripheral direction of the cylinder, is also provided. Both of these axes are fixed in relation to the cylinder.
Abstract:
A folding device includes a first partial cylinder and a second partial cylinder. These two partial cylinders form a cylinder body. The two partial cylinders are rotatable relative to each other and each partial cylinder includes first and second groups of functional elements distributed around the circumference of the partial cylinder. Each of the first and second partial cylinders is provided with its own dedicated drive motor to accomplish the rotational movement of each partial cylinder.
Abstract:
A collecting cylinder for a folder unit is provided with at least one disk cam that has peripheral switching depressions. These switching depressions can be covered by using an auxiliary curved trajectory which is created by a pivoting drive. Switching levers are selectively blocked or unblocked by motor-driven rotatable switching parts.
Abstract:
A folding apparatus includes a folding blade cylinder that carries at least one group of identical tools which are distributed homogeneously about the periphery of the folding blade cylinder. A cam plate is traced or followed by a control lever of each such group of tools and is usable to control a working movement of the tool. A cover disk, consisting of a plurality of cover cams, can be rotated. The cover cams of the cover disk are displaceable between an inactive position, in which they enable the control of the working movement by the cam plate, and an active position in which they prevent such movement. Two groups of tools are used on the folding blade cylinder and the cover cams form a first group of cams at an angular distance of between 60° or 120° to each other, and a second group of cams at an angular distance of between 90° to 180° to each other.
