    摘要: An automated message system sends a message of the calling party to the called party in response to a control signal. The automated message system includes a telephone network, a first telephone station, a second telephone station used by the called party and an automated message unit coupled to the first and second telephone stations through the network. A controller of the automated message unit that receives the control signal from the calling party selects a database from a memory device and retrieves a message from the database based on information included in the control signal. If an answering machine answers the calling party's call, the controller waits for the answering machine message to complete and sends the message retrieved from the database to the second telephone station of the called party.

    摘要: A system and method that identify the location of a wireless terminal. An illustrative embodiment of the present invention comprises a wireless communication system with a plurality of base stations. The system associates a location identification signal with each base station, such as an area code and an exchange of a telephone number in the geographic area of the base station. When a call is connected through a base station, the system modifies the caller-ID signal for the wireless terminal with the location identification signal of the base station. Thus, the system identifies the location of a wireless terminal.

    摘要: A method and system for remotely controlling an interactive voice response (IVR) system. At least one command for controlling the IVR system is displayed using a graphical user interface based on locally stored information relating to a command menu for the IVR. When a command is selected from the display, a command sequence, that includes at least one DTMF tone, is generated that is related to each selected command. The command sequence also includes at least one DTMF tone that controls the IVR system to return to a higher level within the command menu when the command menu is hierarchical.

Each display unit is a self-contained panel display having a video random access memory (VRAM) for storing image data, a controller for processing data signals to provide the image data to the VRAM, and an image display panel for displaying the image data. The self-contained panel displays substantially reduce the need for a separate driver card for each panel display, and substantially reduce the communications bandwidth between the source devices and the panel displays of the system. Means for interconnecting the display units include the use of data/control bus connectors and power line connectors, cables, network devices, local area networks, and/or wide area networks.

    摘要: A method and apparatus are disclosed for providing persistent storage of Web resources. Uniform Resource Locators (“URLs”) that identify Web resources are augmented to include a time stamp. A web browser and a web server are disclosed that accommodate a time stamp parameter and allow a user to refer to any Web address with a precise target date. The disclosed Web browser can optionally include a mechanism to facilitate the specification of the desired date and time, or the user can manually append the time stamp to the URL indicated in the “Location” window of the browser. The persistent Web servers (i) receive URLs containing a time stamp, relative or variable time-stamp, (ii) extract the time stamp, (iii) retrieve the appropriate Web page(s) corresponding to the time-stamp, and (iv) return the appropriate page(s) or links to the client. Wildcard characters and date ranges can be used in the variable time-stamp to implement a variable time stamp when a user is not sure of the date for a specific web resource or wishes to specify more than one precise date and time. The persistent Web servers include a persistent archive for storing all of the versions of Web resources that will be persistently available to Web users.

In order to implementation these two association methods, the CWUSB device needs to have either upstream USB connector (for cable association) or display capability (for numeric association). These extra requirements make the CWUSB device bulkier (one more USB connector) and/or more expensive (extra display components). For cheap and simple CWUSB devices, we need a simpler association method that is easy and cheap to implement. In a pre-packaged total solution, which includes a host and one or more device(s), we can use pre-association to smooth the user experience. The host and device(s) are pre-associated. When an end user starts to use this solution, they do not need to worry about the association at all.

    摘要: Universal Serial Bus (USB) is a Master/Salve or Host/Device system in which there is only one host and one or more devices connected by cables to the host. To connect a USB device to a different host controller (say another PC), the user unplugs the USB cable and establishes the connection physically by plugging the cable into the new host controller interface. Certified Wireless USB (CWUSB), a logical extension to the USB, preserves the USB connection model, except that the link between the host and the device is now using a wireless technology. A wireless device is usually connected to only one wireless host at a given point of time, even though several wireless hosts may be co-located in the same physical neighborhood. The connection between the wireless host and device is initiated by the device. A device usually selects a wireless host from a stored set of known hosts that have established a trusted relationship with the device. If more than one wireless host is operating in the same neighborhood, there is no well known established procedure for the device to select a particular wireless host to establish a connection.
