摘要: A search metric adjustor (401) for use in a base station receiver assembly (400) which operates in a CDMA wireless communication system conveying a mobile communication signal (107), is disclosed. The search metric adjustor (401) produces an adjusted energy value (490) that is utilized by a sorter (265) in a receiver signal searcher (200) to select a set of valid time offsets at which effective demodulation of the mobile communication signal (107) may occur. The search metric adjustor (401) compares a first plurality of Walsh symbol energy values (245), output from the receiver signal searcher (200), to a second plurality of Walsh symbol energy values (342), output from a spread spectrum receiver (300). The comparison yields a walsh symbol match count (470), correlated to a predetermined energy value (480) which is then added to an energy metric (241) to produce the adjusted energy value (490).

摘要: A receiver (300) is provided that efficiently determines what transport format combination is currently being utilized by a transmitter (200) multiplexing (201) several transport channels onto a single over-the-air channel (209). The receiver (300) estimates the transmitted sequence and, not knowing the format combination being utilized, makes estimates of the information bits for each of the possible transport format combinations. CRC metrics are determined (one for each transport or data channel) for each possible transport format combination, and these CRC metrics are combined into a single transport format combination metric for the particular transport format combination being tested.

摘要: A method for monitoring feedback loop stability in a wireless repeater includes measuring a gain control metric in the feedback loop of the repeater periodically for a given time period where the gain control metric is indicative of a loop gain of the feedback loop of the repeater; and monitoring the magnitude of the gain control metric to determine the stability of the feedback loop of the repeater. In operation, a large magnitude of the gain control metric indicates instability in the feedback loop of the repeater.

摘要: A wireless repeater introduces a low level noise to the signal path of the repeater where the introduced noise is used to facilitate channel estimation. The introduced low power level noise may be added to the receive signal or to the transmit signal. The low power noise signal ensures that the repeater always has a reference signal for performing channel estimation, even when the repeater is not receiving any incoming signal traffic. In one embodiment, a low noise signal is inserted to the transmit circuit of the repeater. In another embodiment, the repeater is configured to increase the noise figure of the receive circuit where the detected noise figure acts as a receive signal.

摘要: In an embodiment, a first repeater configures a beacon signal that identifies the first repeater to one or more other repeaters. The first repeater transmits the configured beacon signal at a given transmission power level to the one or more other repeaters. The transmitted beacon signal is received at least by a second repeater. The second repeater reduces interference associated with other transmissions from the first repeater, such as retransmissions of donor signals, based on the received beacon signal.

摘要: The embodiments utilize OFDM symbols to communicate network IDs. The IDs are encoded into symbols utilizing the network IDs as seeds to scramble respective pilots that are then transmitted by utilizing the symbols. The pilots can be structured into a single OFDM symbol and/or multiple OFDM symbols. The single symbol structure for transmitting the network IDs is independent of the number of network ID bits and minimizes frequency offset and Doppler effects. The multiple symbol structure allows a much coarser timing accuracy to be employed at the expense of transmitting additional symbols. Several embodiments employ a search function to find possible network ID candidates from a transmitted symbol and a selection function to find an optimum candidate from a network ID candidate list.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for decoding frame packet data in a communication system to reduce latency for decoding particular types of broadcast signals in a frame. In particular, decoding of a communication signal includes demodulating at least a particular type of encoded broadcast channel modulation symbol received in a frame before completion of reception of a certain number of frames each including the particular type of encoded broadcast channel modulation symbol are received. After demodulation, the demodulated encoded broadcast channel modulation symbol is then decoded by a decoder. A determination is then made whether decoding of the first broadcast channel modulation symbol is successful. If decoding is successful, decoding of subsequent broadcast channel modulation symbols is terminated. Otherwise, decoding is incrementally or iteratively continued (i.e., a next received frame and so on) until decoding is determined to be successful.
