    摘要: A method is described for forming a solution of cellulose in a tertiary amine oxide (such as N-methylmorpholine N-oxide) and a non-solvent for cellulose (such as water). The method involves the preparation of a mixture containing excess non-solvent, and removing the excess by heating the mixture to a temperature in excess of the boiling point of the non-solvent at a predetermined sub-atmospheric pressure, and feeding the heated mixture into the introduction zone of a mixing chamber at the predetermined sub-atmospheric pressure, so as to cause flash evaporation of some of the excess non-solvent. The mixture in the mixing chamber is then agitated by a rotor and transported through the mixing chamber whilst further evaporation of the non-solvent occurs. The cellulose solution thus formed is extracted from the mixing chamber, and the evaporated non-solvent withdrawn in cocurrent mode from the same end of the mixing chamber. Apparatus for carrying out the method is also described.

    摘要: An instrument for cleaning canals during endodontic procedures is presented. The instrument is formed in one piece from a stiff polymeric material. The instrument features a handle, a measuring shaft, and a tapering shank with raised polymeric projections along its length. The present invention is designed without the use of bristles that conventional brushes contain. The raised polymeric projections include fins that may be oriented parallel to or transverse to the axis of the instrument to provide multidirectional cleaning capability. The instrument is stiff enough to penetrate a canal and mechanically scrub and scrape canal surfaces, but flexible enough to negotiate the curves of the canal.

    摘要: Provided is a method for the standardization of information management among different information sources and different information formats. With respect to information sources that employ different information storage formats, an organizational proxy, or “shadow,” of the organization structure of the first information source is created in the second information source and a shadow of the second information source is created in the first information source. Information stored in conjunction with the first information source is copied into the shadow within the second information source. The information in the first source is then either maintained or a link to corresponding information in the second information source is created within the first information source and the first information is deleted. The claimed subject matter provides a graphical user interface (GUI) so that a user can copy information from one information source to another by executing a “drag & drop” action.

    摘要: A conical dental bur for endodontic procedures, including exploration, deep troughing, enlargement of orifices, and canal navigation is presented. The bur of the present invention has a narrow, conical bur head with cutting members along its length. The head of the bur of the present invention is mounted to a shank that tapers to the bur head, allowing microscopic observations of endodontic procedures. The bur may be manufactured of tungsten carbide, diamond, ceramics, or other materials. Burs according to the present invention of various shapes and sizes, suited for particular procedures, may be packaged together in kits. Methods of using the burs in endodontic procedures are also disclosed.
