摘要: A process for validating an identification badge for a plurality of predetermined periods of time. The process includes generating, preferably randomly, an initial image for an initial predetermined period of time and then transmitting this initial image to a heat transfer printing device. The heat transfer device prints the image on the identification badge to thereby validate the badge for the initial predetermined period of time. Subsequently, a subsequent image is randomly generated for a subsequent predetermined period of time. This subsequent image is then transmitted to the heat transfer printing device. The device subsequently prints the subsequent image on the identification badge to overlay the initial image, thereby concealing such initial image and validating the badge for the subsequent predetermined period of time. A novel heat transfer ribbon is also provided.

摘要: This invention provides process embodiments for fabricating polymeric channel or rib optical waveguides. An invention optical waveguide has a channel or rib structure which has a polymer thin film smooth-wall lining on its surfaces to minimize optical loss by scattering of propagating wave energy. The smooth-wall channel waveguide polymeric medium is in combination with polymeric cladding thin films to form a laminated matrix. The polymers in the waveguiding medium and the lining and cladding thin films of the laminated matrix preferably have side chains which exhibit second order nonlinear optical susceptibility, and which can be molecularly oriented by an electric field.

摘要: Devices, systems, and methods for providing data, especially video signal data, to a remote location using low frequency bandwidths is disclosed. Transmission of low frequency bandwidths from a transmitting unit to a receiving unit located up to about 15 miles line-of-sight is possible. Adding one or more bridge antennas between the transmitting and receiving units can increase the transmission distance to hundreds of miles line-of-sight. At the receiving unit, data is retransmitted to a facility network for display and/or storage. Control of data generating devices can also be controlled remotely from the remote location or to Internet uses wherever they may be.

摘要: A long term rapid color changing time indicator includes a front part and a back part. The front part includes a transparent layer, an opaque layer, a colorant layer, and a neutralizing layer. The colorant layer includes a matrix and a colorant having a non-migratory form that does not migrate in the matrix and having a migratory form that migrates in the matrix. The back part has a reactant. When the front part and the back part are placed in contact, the reactant migrates into the neutralizing layer and a portion of the reactant is depleted by a coreactant. The unreacted reactant migrates into the colorant layer and reacts with the non-migratory form of the colorant converting the non-migratory form to the migratory form such that the migratory form of the colorant migrates through the opaque layer to cause a visual color indication in the transparent layer.

摘要: A labeling assembly for applying labels carried on a substrate to a sequential series of moving documents is provided. The assembly transports the document in a generally vertical end on end orientation down a conveying path and peels the label from the substrate to position the peeled label in a generally vertical orientation. The labeling assembly also includes a paddle having a front surface with vacuum ports for attaching and releasably retaining the peeled label on the front surface. An actuating mechanism pivots the paddle to force an end of the retained label into contact with the document. Upon contact, the downstream end of the retained label adheres to the document and the label is pulled off the paddle. As the label is pulled off the paddle the contact between the end of the paddle presses the label against the document.
