摘要： A method for creating an index for searching a structured document having a document data-structure stored, in a computer. The method to be performed in the computer for creating an index includes the steps of: analyzing a structured document to extract a document data-structure in the structured document; normalizing the extracted document data-structure to create a logical structure index composed of a plurality of elements having a hierarchical structure; extracting an appearance number of each element in the created logical structure index; and extracting elements for creating the index, based on the logical structure index, by comparing the extracted element appearance number and a first predetermined threshold.

The parallel database system manages: correspondence information between a characteristic of the data and each of the plurality of data servers that manages the data; and a data area corresponding to the characteristic of the data. The data management method comprising the steps of: extracting the characteristic of the data from data to be stored in the data area; storing the data in the data area based on the extracted characteristic of the data; specifying a corresponding data area based on the characteristic of the data stored in the data area by referring to the correspondence information; and accessing, by each of the plurality of data servers, the specified data area.

摘要： Buffer management unit selects the input and output buffer to be set as a replacement target referring to the input and output buffers in order and calculates the number of times of replacement execution for the input and output buffer and reference speed for referring to the input and output buffers in order. At execution of pre-write processing, the pre-write management unit selects, according to position information of the input and output buffer subjected to the last pre-write processing, position information, and the number of times of replacement execution, the input and output buffer to be set as a target of the present pre-write processing. When updated data is present in the input and output buffer, the pre-write management unit writes the data in the secondary storage device and executes the next pre-write processing according to the reference speed.

摘要： A parallel database system retrieval method and system for transferring from database operation servers to a front end server only those data items that are used in subsequent processing, thereby shortening the query time when the unused data are massive. The invention allows an initial retrieval query to transfer only location information about the target data from a database operation server to the front end server. Using the location information the invention permits a subsequent query to get variable-bound location information so that the latter query will retrieve a desired sub-data item according to the acquired location information and dictionary information about the sub-data item locations within the data.

In the determination, transition of a used amount of a storage is obtained from the history information, and it is determined based on the transition of the used amount of the storage whether or not the designated area can be assigned at the designated period.

摘要： A database management system for executing database operations in parallel by a plurality of nodes and a query processing method for it are described. The database management system contains a decision management node for deciding a distribution node for retrieving information so as to analyze a query received from an application program, generate a processing procedure for processing the query, and execute the process and a join node for sorting, merging, and joining the information retrieved by the distribution node. When the query process is executed, the distribution node decided by the decision management node retrieves the information to be processed and the join node decided by the decision management node also obtains the result for the query from the retrieved information. The query result is outputted from an output node and transferred to the application program.
