摘要： A touch sensor type liquid crystal display is disclosed to provide a touch sensor type liquid crystal display which can endure long-time use while achieving a weight reduction. The touch sensor type liquid crystal display includes: a liquid crystal display panel 2 having an array substrate 14 and a color filter substrate 13, which are arranged oppositely to each other by interpolating a liquid crystal layer 18; and a touch sensor panel 3 having a movable electrode plate 4 and a fixed electrode plate 5, which are arranged oppositely to each other by a specified gap. These panels 2 and 3 are laminated together. A gap controlling spacer 19 is fixed in the array substrate 14 to restrict a spacer movement in a planar direction.

The position detecting function comprises a position detecting electrically conductive film on a polarizer or a color filter glass substrate of the liquid crystal display device. The present invention also can suppress the undesired generation of an air gap between the polarizer and color filter glass substrate by using a polarizer that is smaller in size relative to the position detecting electrically conductive film.

摘要： The present invention provides a newly constituted liquid crystal display element incorporating a touch sensor unit. In a liquid crystal display element where a liquid crystal layer is inserted between a first substrate and a second substrate, a display electrode for displaying an image and a touch electrode for detecting a touch position are provided on the surfaces of the first substrate and the second substrate opposing with each other. The display electrode may be used as the touch electrode. A pillar-shaped spacer may be formed to support the first substrate and the second substrate. Additionally, the touch electrode may be provided on a convex-shaped part formed on the substrate.

This is accomplished by making the width of the slit for the input electrodes uneven. The width of the slit where each of the electrodes crosses over the slit is narrower than elsewhere.

Therefore, in replacing a fluorescent tube 44, it is not necessary to replace the whole backlight 20 or for the user to touch the fluorescent tube 44, which is difficult to handle. Because of the perpendicular removal, only a small space is needed for the replacement. Thus, the fluorescent tube 44 can be replaced safely and easily, and only a small space is required for this replacement.
