The present invention overcomes the reduction of aperture ratio in conventional LCD devices due to the configuration of additional gate lines. 摘要： An object of the invention is to provide a liquid crystal display device which can make full use of advantages of a parallel alignment type liquid crystal layer and obtain desired viewing angle characteristics. A liquid crystal display device 100 having a configuration wherein a linearly polarizing plate 11, a first retardation film 12, a second retardation film 13, a liquid crystal layer 14 and an optical reflective layer 15 are arranged in this order from a front side thereof. The linearly polarizing plate 11, and the first and second retardation films 12, 13 form means having a function of the right-hand or left-hand circular polarization. The first film 12 has a fixed retardation of substantially half of a wavelength of incident light. The liquid crystal layer 14 comprises a liquid crystal material of a parallel alignment type. The second film 13 and the liquid crystal layer 14 have a retardation of substantially quarter of a wavelength of incident light as a whole during black displaying operation of the device. In addition, for example, the following condition is fulfilled: an absorption axis of the linearly polarizing plate 11 and a slow axis of the first film 12 are deviated from their parallel position by a predetermined angle less than 45 degrees, and a slow axis of the second film 13 and an alignment direction of the liquid crystal layer 14 are substantially perpendicular to each other.

摘要： A rotary cutter for a mower capable of limiting the reeling out of a cord, when the free end of the cord is worn out to only when the rotary cutter is rotated at low speed thereby preventing pebbles or the like from being scattered. The rotary cutter is disengaged without the component parts being separated thereby facilitating reassembly. The rotary cutter includes a cord for mowing grass on being rotated, a reel for containing the cord and reeling out the cord intermittently while being rotated, a cover covering a case containing the reel, and a plunger projected downward from the case and movable in an axial direction by being pressed for intermittently rotating the reel. A ratchet is held at a constant position by an urging element which is moved outward to open against the direction of the urging element by the centrifugal force produced by rotating the rotary cutter at a high speed and is engaged with the plunger to thereby prevent the plunger from moving in the axial direction. The urging element includes a return spring urging the plunger in an outer direction. The reel and the plunger are separate members contained in the case and cover and are detachably connected to each other, the reel being intermittently rotated by moving the plunger in the axial direction and the case and the reel separating from the plunger when the case and the cover are detached from each other.

Each pixel includes first and second electrodes disposed correspondingly on upper and lower surfaces of the substrate so as to change the orientation of liquid crystal molecules in the plane parallel to the substrate. Each pixel has a third electrode opposite the substrate. A liquid crystal layer containing liquid crystal molecules is sandwiched between the substrate and the third electrode. The first electrode and the third electrode can generate an electric field in the direction perpendicular to the substrate in the liquid crystal layer.

A thickness of the liquid crystal layer and/or a pre-tilt angle of liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal layer is made to be greater than in the case where the one and the other retardations are provided, so that a difference between a first retardation obtained by applying the liquid crystal layer with a modified high voltage lower than the predetermined high voltage and a second retardation obtained by applying the liquid crystal layer with a modified low voltage equal to or higher than the predetermined low voltage, for example is made to be substantially half of wavelength of the light.
