    摘要: A method and an arrangement are disclosed for a mobile station of a cellular radio system to exchange capability information with the fixed parts of the cellular radio system. The mobile station receives capability information from the fixed parts of the cellular radio system and compares the received capability information to capability information describing the capability of the mobile station. The mobile station transmits to the fixed parts of the cellular radio system a comparison result that indicates whether matches occurred between the received capability information and said piece of capability information describing the capability of the mobile station.

    摘要: According to one aspect, a communication network system comprising at least one first network and at least one second network providing application services over the first network is described. The system comprises first network means (GGSN) for receiving a message associated with an IP address allocated by the first network from the second network, for detecting that there is no active communication channel for this IP address which is allocated to a user equipment, and for sending an indication that the user equipment is not reachable through this IP address to the second network.     摘要: The invention relates to a method for the transmission of multimedia messages in a communication system from a transmitting terminal (MS1) to a receiving terminal (RH, MS2). The communication system comprises at least a first communication network (NW1), a second communication network (NW2) and a multimedia message switching centre (MMSC). In the first communication network (NW1), at least a first address type is used as the terminal address, and in the second communication network (NW2), at least a second address type is used as the terminal address. In the method, the address of the receiving terminal (RH, MS2) is annexed to said multimedia message. The multimedia message is further supplemented with data on the type of said address, wherein the multimedia message is transmitted from the transmitting terminal (MS1) to said multimedia message switching centre (MMSC), in which the type of the address of the receiving terminal (RH, MS2) is examined, and said address type is used to select the communication network (NW1, NW2) to be used in the transmission of the message from the multimedia message switching centre (MMSC) to the receiving terminal (RH, MS2).

A first protocol stack (201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207) is defined for the first device and a second protocol stack (251, 252, 253, 254, 255, 256; 511, 512, 513, 514, 515, 516) is defined for the second device. The protocol stacks consist of layers and serve the arranging of the mutual exchange of information between the first device and the second device. An octet stream protocol layer (206, 255) is defined for the transmission of unstructured octet streams as a certain layer in the first protocol stack and a certain layer in the second protocol stack. A Wireless Datagram Protocol layer (207, 256) is also defined as a certain layer above the octet stream protocol layer (206, 255) in the first and second protocol stacks. Information related to the use of the Wireless Application Protocol is exchanged between the Wireless Datagram Protocol layer (207) in the first device and the Wireless Datagram Protocol layer (256) in the second device through the use of the octet stream protocol layer (206, 255) as well as other lower layers in the first and second protocol stacks.
