摘要: A method and system for medical imaging employs an excitation source configured to cause an object having a plurality of cells to at least one of emit, reflect, and fluoresce light. An optical receptor is employed that is configured to receive the light from the object. A filter assembly receives the light from the optical receptor and filters the light. An image processor having a field of view (FOV) substantially greater than a diameter of a cell of the object and an analysis resolution substantially matched to the diameter of a cell of the object that receives the filtered light from the filter and analyzes the filtered light corresponding to each cell in the FOV. A feedback system is provided that is configured to provide an indication of a state of each cell in the FOV and a location of a cell in the FOV meeting a predetermined condition.

摘要: This invention relates generally to detection devices having one or more small wells each surrounded by, or in close proximity to, an NMR micro coil, each well containing a liquid sample with magnetic nanoparticles that self-assemble or disperse in the presence of a target analyte, thereby altering the measured NMR properties of the liquid sample. The device may be used, for example, as a portable unit for point of care diagnosis and/or field use, or the device may be implanted for continuous or intermittent monitoring of one or more biological species of interest in a patient.

摘要: A method for releasing a structure from contact with a substrate in a micromechanical device includes the step of irradiating the structure with energy having parameters selected to produce a thermal gradient normal to the surface of the structure which causes upward bowing and release of the structure from the substrate. Preferably, the structure is irradiated with laser energy and, more preferably, the structure is irradiated with pulsed laser energy. The temperature gradient creates a strain gradient, due to thermal expansion, which causes the structure to bow upwardly. Support elements react and hold the structure up after the thermal gradient has disappeared.

摘要: Slide decelerator for a firearm has a cylindrical cavity formed in the metallic receiver of the firearm and a deformable mass of elastomeric material is disposed within the cavity. A piston is slidably fitted into the cavity and a rod extends outwardly from the piston for engagement with a depending portion of the slide. The elastomer consists of a cylindrical plug which has a diameter substantially smaller than the inner diameter of the cavity and an axial length approximately equal to that to the length of the cavity. Upon firing, the slide, being moved rearwardly by blow-back of combustion gases, will impact against the rod and elastomeric material will be deformed to thereby absorb the kinetic energy of the slide. As a result, the slide is stopped before impacting against the receiver of the firearm.

摘要: This invention is directed to a method of and apparatus or device for flame switching in order to associate a flame and the energy of the flame with different and distinct energy using systems. The flame switchable gas burning device, when adapted to be mounted or attached within the oven cavity of a gas stove, provides an improved gas stove which can, within the one oven cavity, operate in the broil, bake and self-clean mode without the need for multiple burners or multiple oven cavities and without the need for manually operated baffles or dampers. The flame is caused to be established in a first direction (typically in the broil mode), to being established in a second direction (typically the bake/self-clean mode), that is the flame is switched, by the method of establishing a flame in the first direction, providing a source of fresh air directed toward the source portion of the flame and creating a low pressure zone or a negative pressure field in a region proximate to the source portion of the flame and directed in the second direction thereby causing the flame to switch and be established in the second direction.
