摘要: An evaporator including a shell having a first end and a second end. A plurality of tubes are disposed within the shell to circulate refrigerant through the shell. A plurality of shell inlets are in fluid communication with the shell to deliver a fluid to exchange heat in the plurality of tubes, preferably through a baffle arrangement. At least one of the shell inlets may be arranged to deliver fluid to the shell adjacent to the first end. In addition, at least one of the other shell inlets may be arranged to deliver fluid adjacent to the second end. A shell outlet is in fluid communication with the shell to discharge fluid from the shell. The shell outlet is arranged to receive the combined liquid delivered to the shell by the plurality of shell inlets.

摘要: An evaporator including a shell having a first end and a second end. A plurality of tubes are disposed within the shell to circulate refrigerant through the shell. 摘要: An oil separator for use in separating oil from refrigerant gas in a chiller system is provided. Its operation is based on centrifugal separation principles and does not require the use any type of filter or media pack to remove oil from refrigerant gas. The oil separator includes a non-circular (e.g., elliptical) refrigerant outlet pipe that transitions the linear flow from the inlet connection to a swirling (e.g., circular) flow within the cylindrical housing. The non-circular shape of the entrance to the refrigerant outlet pipe provides for more turbulent gas flow and a greater extraction of oil as well as minimization of pressure losses.

摘要: A compact evaporator including a suction baffle system is provided for use in a refrigeration system. The suction baffle system includes a suction baffle and a passageway. The suction baffle includes a plurality of walls and is adjacent to the interior wall of shell. The passageway extends below one of the walls of the suction baffle toward the lower portion of the shell and is adjacent to the interior wall of the shell. A suction tube having an inlet is attached to the evaporator shell and the inlet is adjacent to the passageway and located partially below the suction baffle. The passageway minimizes the possibility of liquid carry-over in the suction tube that feeds into the compressor.

The first supply line (142) is connected to the distributor (80) and an end of the second supply line (144) is positioned near the hood (88). The sensor (150) is configured and positioned to sense a level of liquid refrigerant (82) in the shell. The valve (122) regulates flow in the second supply line in response to the level of liquid refrigerant (82) from the sensor (150).
