    Abstract: A method includes a forming step of forming a first metal separator and a second metal separator each including a protruding sealing bead portion and a protruding stopper bead portion; a joining step of joining surfaces of the first metal separator and the second metal separator on sides opposite to sides on which their respective sealing bead portions protrude, and attaching seal members in an extension direction or on distal ends of the sealing bead portion; and a preload applying step of applying preload to a bead seal section formed of one pair of the sealing bead portions and the seal members and a stopper section formed of one pair of the stopper bead portions in a height direction thereof, thereby plastically deforming the bead seal section and the stopper section simultaneously.

    Abstract: The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing a carbon plate-integrated gasket with which, when forming a carbon plate-integrated gasket using a cure-in-place gasket (CIPG), gaskets with a selected lip shape can be obtained with good precision without damage to the carbon plate and with good material yield while maintaining favorable material properties. For this purpose, in the method for manufacturing a carbon plate-integrated gasket having a lip-shaped section in which an uncured liquid rubber is applied on the surface of a carbon plate to produce an uncured seal protrusion and the seal protrusion is then compressed and cured between a forming mold and the carbon plate, a burr-collecting section for discharging excess seal protrusion rubber from the gasket-forming space is configured between the forming mold and the carbon plate so as to communicate with said forming space via a rubber-squeezing section.

    Abstract: The purpose of the present invention is to make it possible to shorten the time required for a burr removal step and make it difficult for the burrs to detach from a sheet member in a step for removing the burrs together with the sheet member. For removal, by making the burrs to adhere to a pliable sheet member such as paper or nonwoven fabric that has been incorporated beforehand in the molding die and stripping the sheet member from the molding die, the burrs are removed together with the sheet member. The present invention is characterized in that in order to make it difficult for the burrs to detach from the sheet member during the stripping, a radiused shape with an arc-shaped cross-section is formed by the molding die on the areas surrounding the sections where the burrs adhere to the sheet member.

    Abstract: A method of shaping a gasket on a separator without causing destruction and damage. A fuel battery separator gasket is shaped via a shaping of a sticking agent and a transfer of the sticking agent. During the shaping, the sticking agent to be the gasket is shaped on a flexible substrate having flexibility. During the transfer, the sticking agent shaped on the flexible substrate is transferred to one of a pair of separators facing each other with an electrolyte membrane provided in a fuel battery cell being interposed therebetween and each having a bead forming a flow path of fluid between the bead and the electrolyte membrane in close contact with the electrolyte membrane to shape the gasket.

    Abstract: A seal structure is provided that follows fluctuations in a gap between a pair of fuel cell separators without generating a large tightening force. A pair of separators facing each other with an electrolyte membrane as a mating member interposed therebetween have beads which form a flow path for fluid between the beads and the electrolyte membrane in close contact with the electrolyte membrane. A seal which seals the pair of separators causes the beads 14 of the pair of these separators to overlap each other in a nested manner. A seal material having elasticity is provided between side walls of the respective beads which face each other. When the gap between the pair of separators fluctuates, the seal material deforms in a shearing direction.

    Abstract: In a fuel battery seal structure, a gasket has a base portion fitted in a non-bonded manner to a seal installation groove of a separator, and a seal protrusion brought into close contact with a seal groove of a separator. Presser projections and clearance grooves are formed in both sides in a width direction of the seal groove. The presser projections are brought into contact with the base portion of the gasket, and the clearance grooves are positioned in an opposite side to the seal groove as seen from the presser projections. Sum of widths of the seal groove and the presser projections in both sides thereof is smaller than a width of the seal installation groove, and sum of widths of the seal groove, and the presser projections and the clearance grooves in both sides thereof is larger than the width of the seal installation groove.

    Abstract: A separator-integrated gasket is provided for making an electrolyte membrane unlikely to be deformed when a stack is assembled. The separator-integrated gasket for a fuel battery includes a lip-shaped gasket, first and second separator components, and a flat-shaped gasket. The first and second separator components are made of press-workable metal plates, and include first and second three-dimensional shape portions, respectively. The first separator component includes a surface that is on a side opposite to a protruding direction of the first three-dimensional shape portion and on which a gasket attachment groove holding the lip-shaped gasket is formed. The second separator component includes a surface that is on a side opposite to a protruding direction of the second three-dimensional shape portion and on which a three-dimensional shape fitting groove accommodating the first three-dimensional shape portion is formed. The flat-shaped gasket is held on an outer surface side at the second three-dimensional shape portion. The first and second three-dimensional shape portions protrude in the same direction while mutually adjusted in positions on a flat surface. The first and second separator components are joined to each other while superposed over each other in a thickness direction.

    Abstract: A method of manufacturing a separator assembly for fuel cell includes a separator assembly forming step in which a separator assembly including a first metal separator and a second metal separator each having a protruding bead portion is formed by joining together the surfaces of the first and second metal separators opposite from their respective bead portions protruding, and a preload applying step in which a pair of platens apply a preload in a thickness direction of the separator assembly to a bead seal section formed of one pair of the bead portions, and thereby the bead seal section is plastically deformed. In the preload applying step, the preload applied to a linear portion of the bead seal section is set to be smaller than the preload applied to a curve portion of the bead seal section.
