    Abstract: A method including monitoring, by a user equipment (UE) operating in a multi-beam based communication session, signal qualities for a plurality of beams in the multi-beam based communication session (300); determining a beam link failure (BLF) occurring for at least one of the beams in the multi-beam based communication session (302); determining a type of the beam in which the beam link failure (BLF) is occurring (304); and updating a radio link failure (RLF) related condition in dependence on the type of the beam in which the beam link failure (BLF) is occurring (306).

    Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, are provided for dual connectivity. In one aspect there is provided a method. The method may include applying, at a user equipment having dual connectivity to a first wireless access point and a second wireless access point, a first discontinuous receive cycle pattern in a second cell served by the second wireless access point, when the user equipment is active in a first cell served by the first wireless access point; and applying, at the user equipment having dual connectivity to the first wireless access point and the second wireless access point, a second discontinuous receive cycle pattern in the second cell, when the user equipment is not active in the first cell. Related apparatus, systems, methods, and articles are also described.

    Abstract: Various communication systems may benefit from an enhanced radio link control status report. A method may include determining a negative acknowledgment sequence number range. The negative acknowledgment sequence number range may include a plurality of consecutive radio link control missing sequence numbers. The method may also include determining at least one of a negative acknowledgment end sequence number when the plurality of consecutive radio link control missing sequence numbers exceeds the negative acknowledgment sequence number range. In addition, the method may include sending a radio link control status report comprising at least one of a negative acknowledgment sequence number, the negative acknowledgment sequence number range, or the negative acknowledgment end sequence number when the plurality of consecutive radio link control missing sequence numbers exceeds the at least one negative acknowledgment sequence number range.

    Abstract: Various communication systems may benefit from improved network signaling. For example, certain embodiments may benefit from an improved connection between relay nodes and network entities. A method may include receiving at a user equipment part of an integrated access and backhaul node downlink information from a donor node. The downlink information may include F1 application protocol information. The method may also include forwarding the downlink information including the F1 application protocol information from the user equipment part of the integrated access and backhaul node to a radio access network part of the integrated access and backhaul node.

    Abstract: Improved systems and techniques for dual connection to a wireless communications network. In a wireless network comprising one or more macro base stations and secondary base stations, a user device indicates capability to operate and readiness to initiate an alternative multipath transfer control protocol connection. Radio access network procedures provide for communication between a core network, radio access network, and user device to indicate that bearers are being used for, or authorized for use in, an alternative multipath connection and to establish a radio bearer context. In embodiments of the invention, a bearer for alternative multipath connection is established only when a secondary base station becomes available and when a network operator has allowed the use of multipath connection. When a user device indicates that it is ready for multipath connections, core network elements establish bearers, with the alternative connection released when connection to the secondary base station is lost.
