Abstract: A steering device includes tie rods connected to right and left wheels, and rack bars connected to the respective tie rods. The steering device is capable of simultaneously steering the right and left wheels to the right or left of the vehicle, by moving the rack bars to the right or left. A rack bar moving arrangement is provided which is capable of moving the rack bars in opposite directions by the same distance, and rack teeth are arranged along the opposite directions. The rack bar moving arrangement includes a synchronizing gear in mesh with the rack bars, and is configured to convert the movement of one of the rack bars in one of the opposite directions to the movement of the other of the rack bars in the other opposite direction, thereby steering the wheels in opposite directions.

Abstract: The magnetic encoder includes: a core member of annular shape having a press-fitting portion which bends and extends from an edge of a track formation surface, and to which a rotary shaft is press-fitted and fixed; and two or more rows of magnetic tracks arranged adjacent to each other on a magnetic member provided on the track formation surface, each track having N poles and S poles alternately magnetized thereon. The two or more rows of magnetic tracks include a main track that has a largest number of magnetic poles and is used for calculating an angle of rotation, and a sub track used for calculating a phase difference from the main track. The main track is located on a side more distant from the press-fitting portion than the sub track.

Abstract: A magnetic encoder having a plurality of rows of magnetic tracks and capable of detecting an absolute angle is easily producible with higher accuracy. The magnetic encoder includes: a core member of annular shape having a bending plate portion that bends and extends from an edge of a track formation surface; and two or more rows of magnetic tracks arranged adjacent to each other on a magnetic member provided on the track formation surface, each track having N poles and S poles alternately magnetized thereon. The magnetic tracks include a main track that has a largest number of magnetic poles and is used for calculating an angle, and a sub track used for calculating a phase difference from the main track. The main track is located on a side closer to the bending plate portion than the sub track.

Abstract: A steering device is provided which allows the vehicle to move laterally and turn with a small radius, without using a complicated mechanism, and capable of stably controlling the steering angle during such modes. The steering device includes a pair of rack bars connected, respectively, to front right and front left vehicle wheels or rear right and rear left vehicle wheels, synchronizing gears disposed between the pair of rack bars, a synchronizing gear box retaining the synchronizing gears, a rack case fixed to the frame of the vehicle, and a fixing mechanism for fixing the synchronizing gear box to the rack case.

Abstract: It is desired to reduce the manufacturing cost of a vehicle while ensuring stability of travel of the vehicle. The vehicle includes a steering force generating means, and a steering device (10, 20) for steering right and left wheels (w). The steering device (10, 20) includes tie rods (12 and 22) connected, respectively, to the right and left wheels (w), and configured to steer the respective right and left wheels, a pair of rack bars (53 and 54) connected to the respective tie rods (12 and 22), and a rack bar moving means (60) capable of moving, by a same distance, the pair of rack bars (53 and 54) in one of opposite directions or in one and the other of the opposite directions, respectively, whereby the pair of rack bars (53 and 54) are moved simultaneously with each other under the steering force generated by the steering force generating means.
