摘要: This invention relates to metal organic framework (MOF) compositions, methods of preparing them and methods of using them. The MOF compositions are characterized in that at least a portion of the linker molecule is an amino containing organic linker. The MOF also has a crystal size of greater than 1 μm and has been treated with an acid wash to provide a MOF in which at least 55% of the amino groups are activated amino groups of the form —NH2. The MOF compositions are useful in adsorbing various contaminants from various gas stream. One specific example is adsorbing NO2 from an air stream.

摘要: A liquefied gas system for capturing boil-off gas and reversibly adsorbing the boil-off gas on an adsorbent for later desorption and use comprises a first vessel for storing liquefied gas; a means for delivering gas from the first vessel to a system endpoint; a second vessel for storing boil-off gas emitted from the first vessel, the second vessel containing at least one adsorbent; a means for delivering boil-off gas from the first vessel to the second vessel, whereby the boil-off gas is reversibly stored on the at least one adsorbent; and a means for delivering the stored boil-off gas from the second vessel to the system endpoint. Also disclosed is a method of capturing boil-off gas from a liquefied gas system, wherein the captured boil-off gas is captured on an adsorbent for further use in the system. In one embodiment of the system and the method, the liquefied gas is liquid hydrogen, and the captured boil-off gas is used to power a hydrogen fuel cell.

The process involves contacting the feed stream comprising API and elemental impurities with the MOF at purification conditions to obtain a purified stream with provides an API which has a concentration of the elemental impurity below its permitted daily exposure. The process can be carried in a batch mode where the MOF and feed stream are admixed in a vessel for a given amount of time or continuously by flowing the feed stream through a column or adsorbent bed containing the MOF adsorbent.

摘要: This invention relates to modified MOF materials, methods of preparing them and processes using them. A modified MOF of the invention is modified by impregnating a MOF with an inorganic metal salt. The starting MOF contains at least one linker or ligand which contains an aryl amino group as part of its structure. These modified MOFs are able to adsorb either basic or acidic toxic industrial compounds (TIC). The modified MOFs can be used to remove TICs from various gaseous streams such as air.

摘要: The invention generally relates to a process for purifying a hydrogen gas for use in a fuel cell. The process involves taking a hydrogen feed stream from a high-pressure tank and passing it through a purifier comprising an adsorbent to provide a purified hydrogen stream which is sent to a fuel cell. A particular adsorbent which can be used is a metal-organic framework composition. The adsorbent can be housed in a device such as a canister or cartridge having an inlet and outlet port.
