The IF local oscillator includes frequency alternation means for causing the IF local oscillator frequency to alternate a plurality of times during each frame between first and second values, one of which is greater and the other smaller than the desired carrier frequency of the input signal so as to reduce the effect of adjacent and alternate interferers. The phase of the baseband local oscillator is alternated in synchronism with the alternation of the IF local oscillator frequency.

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a multi-mode RF system, which is capable of transmitting and receiving RF signals using any of multiple RF communications bands. The multi-mode RF system may integrate RF band specific bandpass filters and low noise amplifiers (LNAs) into a single front-end module, such that each filter and amplifier pair provide selection and gain for at least one RF communications band. Outputs of the LNAs may be combined to provide one or more common signals to a transceiver module, which processes baseband signals associated with the RF communications bands. By integrating the filters and amplifiers into a single module, the filters and amplifiers may be closely coupled to one another, thereby supporting short signal paths between the filters and amplifiers, and having impedances high enough to provide good filter selectivity.

The UE antenna tuner control system and method of the present disclosure include an antenna impedance matching algorithm and a power amplifier (PA) input drive control that are digitally controlled by the BTS. Therefore, each UE having a digitally controllable antenna tuner unit (ATU) and operating within a network that is controllable by the BTS will have increased power efficiency.

The system comprises a filter, a look up table for storing coefficients for sample rate conversion and fractional delays, and control circuitry configured to use an indexing scheme to select one or more coefficients from the look up table for rate conversion and fractional delays. The coefficients stored in the look up table comprise the coefficients required to generate delays in desired increments of a sample rate. In the disclosed method, the one or more coefficients necessary for a desired sample rate and fractional delay are selected from a single look up table and provided to a filter to delay the signal based upon the input sample rate.
