    摘要： An image forming apparatus capable of grouping a plurality of sheet storage units for feeding sheets of a same type in an image forming operation. The image forming apparatus includes a plurality of storage units for storing sheets and a sheet feeder operable to feed the sheets from the plurality of storage units. The apparatus also includes a grouping unit allowing a user to group the storage units based on the type of sheets. A controller controls the sheet feeder to feed sheets from the group of storage units such that when one storage unit becomes empty, the controller controls the sheet feeder to feed sheets from another storage unit of the group of storage units.

    摘要： A sheet supplying apparatus having a plurality of sheet decks for supplying sheets connected in series, and provided with a controller for controlling the feeding of the sheets of each sheet deck, wherein each sheet deck has a sheet stacking portion for supporting the sheets thereon, a sheet conveying path for guiding the sheets from an upstream side to a downstream side, and a joining conveying path joining the sheet conveying path for guiding the sheets from the sheet stacking portion to the sheet conveying path, wherein the sheet decks are connected in such a manner that the respective sheet conveying paths are connected thereto, and the controller judges the position of the sheet deck for supplying a sheet preceding by one the sheet supplied in predetermined order when the sheets are supplied in order from each sheet deck and controls so as to pre-feed the sheet in the predetermined order to the vicinity of the upstream side of a joining point between the sheet conveying path in the sheet deck for supplying the preceding sheet and the joining conveying path when the judged sheet deck is disposed downstream of the sheet deck for supplying the sheet in the predetermined order.

    摘要： There are provided an image forming apparatus which implements divisional control using a plurality of control units without an increase in cost and a control method for the apparatus. To accomplish this, this image forming apparatus includes a master control unit that controls the overall image forming apparatus, a plurality of sub-master control units that control a plurality of functions for performing image formation, and a plurality of salve control units that control loads for implementing a plurality of functions. The master control unit is connected to the plurality of sub-master control units via first signal lines. The plurality of sub-master control units are connected to the plurality of slave control units via second signal lines higher in data transfer timing accuracy than the first signal lines.
