    摘要: An electrical terminal is provided for terminating a wire. The electrical terminal includes an electrical contact and a crimp barrel extending from the electrical contact. The crimp barrel is configured to be crimped around an end of the wire. The crimp barrel includes a base and opposing side walls that extend from the base. The base and the side walls define an opening of the crimp barrel that is configured to receive the end of the wire therein. The side walls extend outwardly from the base to ends. The side walls include base segments that extend from the base and end segments that extend from the base segments and include the ends. A sealing wing extends from the end of at least one of the side walls. The side walls are configured to be folded over when crimped over the end of the wire such that a gap is defined between the end segment and the base segment of at least one of the side walls. The sealing wing is configured to extend within the gap between the end segment and the base segment of the corresponding side wall when the side walls are crimped over the end of the wire.

    摘要: A spacer (14) to be retained within a receptacle housing (11) in either a preset position or a final position. The spacer (14) has a pair of blades (17, 18) to be inserted in respective slots (67, 68) in the receptacle housing (11). Each blade (17, 18) provides first and second bumps (29-32) on the internal surface (24, 25) of the blade (17, 18) and these bumps (29-32) engage internal bumps (73-76) in the slots (67, 68) of the receptacle housing (11), such that upon receiving the spacer (14) in the preset position, the first bump (30, 31) on each of the blades (17, 18) prevents the spacer (14) from coming out and the second bump (29, 32) resists inserting the spacer (14) further to the final position. Upon receiving the spacer (14) in the final position, the second bump (29, 32) on each of the blades (17, 18) prevents the spacer (14) from coming out, thereby preventing an accidental insertion and removal of the spacer (14).

    摘要: A blind mating connector for simultaneously providing electrical and mechanical connection of an electrical component to an instrument panel is disclosed such that a robotic installation of the electrical device is possible. A floating receptacle in the panel is located at a theoretical center at which the device-end connector is expected to arrive by means of resilient O-rings contained in grooves on flanges extending from the floating receptacle. The floating receptacle is movable in any direction in the plane of the panel and is rotatable about any axis. Thus, errors in alignment and in the insertion direction of the electrical device are tolerated while ensuring a proper electrical and mechanical connection between the device and the floating receptacle.

    摘要: A system for attaching a wire shield and a cover cap to the rear of an electrical plug. The plug is provided with four U-shaped members extending outwardly from the periphery of the plug casing, two on each of the opposite sides of the casing, near its corners. Four latching prongs extend forwardly from the shield, in alignment with the U-shaped members, each of which when advanced into a U-shaped member engages a detent shoulder on the inside of the top of the U-shaped member, to accomplish the desired latching. The cap, if used, has four forwardly-extending latching prongs each positioned to slide into a U-shaped member, just below the shield-latching prongs, until it engages a detent shoulder on the casing below the shield prong. Support structure integral with the U-shaped member preferably provides support to hold the shield latches in place even if the cap prongs are not present, as when a cap is not used.
