摘要: A catheter sheath 12 includes a tubular member 14 defining a lumen 18, a distal region of the tubular member 14 defining a plurality of discrete elements 28. The discrete elements 28 are displaceable between a first position in which the discrete elements 28 extend parallel to a longitudinal axis of the tubular member 14 and a second position in which the discrete elements 28 project outwardly transverse to the longitudinal axis of the tubular member 14. A plurality of electrical conductors 30 is associated with the tubular member 14, the conductors 30 projecting into the distal region of the tubular member 14. A sleeve is about the tubular member 14, the sleeve and the tubular member 14 being displaceable axially with respect to each other for effecting displacement of the discrete elements 28 between their first and second positions. At least one electrode 36 is carried by at least one of the discrete elements 28, the at least one electrode 36 being in an operative position when the discrete elements 28 are in their second position.

摘要: An irrigation catheter assembly (10) comprises an electrode sheath mount (14) for mounting an electrode sheath (36). The mount (14) has a laterally arranged aperture (52) defined in it through which conductors for electrodes of the electrode sheath pass, in use A connector (16), to which a source of irrigation fluid is connectable, is connected to a proximal end of the electrode sheath mount (14). The connector (16) communicates with an interior of the mount (14) so that, in use, fluid passes through the lumen of the electrode sheath to be delivered to a distal end of the electrode sheath.

摘要: A multi-electrode lead comprises an elongate carrier having a longitudinal axis. A plurality of electrical conductors is carried by the carrier, a plurality of electrodes being connected in spaced relationship to each conductor. The electrodes are arranged at axially spaced intervals along the carrier so that, along the length of the carrier, any one electrode associated with any one of the conductors only once has an electrode associated with another one of the conductors adjacent to that any one electrode. In another aspect of the invention, an ablating device comprises an elongate tubular sleeve for effecting spot ablation of tissue, a sensing electrode catheter being receivable in a passage of a sleeve for assisting in positioning of an ablating electrode, in use. Preferably, the sensing electrode catheter is the multi-electrode lead of the first aspect of the invention.

At least one of the petals 20 carries at least one electrode 28, the, or each, electrode 28 being in electrical connection with a group of the conductors 16 of the lead 12.
