摘要: A system and method are provided for controlling a cellular telephone account User Terminal (UT). The method includes: registering a UT with an account in a cellular telephone network; uploading a credit for cellular telephone network services to the UT from a second party; and, converting the credit to an account balance. When the UT accesses a cellular telephone network service (i.e., makes a call), then the account balance is debited. In one aspect, the method accesses a credit server funded by the second party. Then, the credit is uploaded in response to accessing the credit server. For example, the credit server may be a module embedded in the UT. Alternately, the credit server is accessed via the cellular telephone network. For example, an Internet Protocol (IP) network-connected credit server may be accessed via the cellular network.

摘要: A method and system includes transmitting a publishing request from a first location, over a network to a central processor. The publishing request at least includes information for electronic publication, where the transmitting adjusts, by a first amount, a first account associated with a first user making the publishing request. At an at least one second location, over the network from the central processor, the publishing request is received for at least one user to accept the request and electronically publish published information including the information. At the at least one second location, over the network from the central processor, validation of the publication is received, where at least a second account associated with the at least one user is credited by a second amount as a result of validation of the publication, wherein a ratio of the first amount and the second amount is a predetermined value.

摘要: An expandable stent having a covering which exhibits the characteristic of upon being activated by applying an agent to the covering, dissolving to expose a portion of the underlying stent. The stent may be placed across the neck of an aneurysm to seal the aneurysm and thereafter a selected region of the covering may be dissolved by an activating agent to permit blood to flow to adjacent vessels.

摘要: A medical device for placing an embolic device at a predetermined site within a vessel of the body including a delivery catheter and a flexible pusher member having a lumen therethrough and being slidably disposed within the lumen of the catheter. A stretch resistant embolic device is retained within the delivery catheter by a mechanical interlocking mechanism which includes an engagement member which is slidably disposed within the pusher member and extends through a retaining ring at the proximal end of the embolic device. A detachment member extends through an aperture at the distal end of the engagement member thereby locking the embolic device onto the engagement member. The engagement member engages a retaining ring on the embolic device. When the embolic device is advanced to the predetermined site within the vessel, the detachment member is withdrawn from the aperture to thereby release the embolic device at the treatment site.

摘要: A method as provided for occluding the vasculature of a patient. The method comprises the steps of providing a plurality of embolic coils having a textured surface. The embolic coils are introduced into the patient's vasculature. In this manner, the textured surface provides improved platelet adhesion compared to a non-textured surface, to promote clotting. In the illustrative embodiment, the embolic coil comprises a platinum-tungsten alloy wire and the texturing is performed by abrasion or sandblasting to provide substantially uniform roughness comprising pockets having diameters of about 0.125 microns to about fifty microns and depths of about 0.25 microns to about twenty microns.

摘要: A self-expanding stent and stent delivery system are provided for treating vascular diseases such as partially occluded blood vessels within the brain. The self-expanding stent is preferably mounted on an elongated core wire including proximal, intermediate and distal cylindrical members disposed about the core wire. The proximal, intermediate, and distal cylindrical members are spaced apart such that first and second gaps are formed. The stent, which includes anchor members, is mounted on the intermediate cylindrical member such that the anchor members interlock within the gaps between the cylindrical members. The self-expanding stent and elongated core wire are disposed within a delivery lumen of a balloon catheter such that the balloon catheter compresses and constrains the stent about the intermediate cylindrical member to thereby interlock the stent onto the core wire. The elongated core wire further includes an expandable capture basket attached to the distal end of the elongated core wire in order to capture embolic debris released during the angioplasty of the blood vessel and the deployment of the self-expanding stent.
