A disk drive is located in the chassis and coupled to the processor. An accelerometer is located in the chassis. A controller is located in the chassis and coupled to the accelerometer. The controller is operable, in response to a wake indicator signal associated with an IHS wake operation, to use the accelerometer to determine that the movement of the IHS exceeds a threshold and, in response, prevent the IHS wake operation such that operation of the disk drive is not initiated.
