摘要： A noise masking system in an image forming apparatus such as a laser beam printer or a copying machine having a drive mechanism acting as a noise generation source during operation, the noise masking system comprising a masking sound generator for generating a sound to mask the noise and masking sound control device which controls the masking sound generator to generate a masking sound of a frequency range including a main-component frequency of the noise. The masking sound thus generated is of a frequency range from a lower-limit frequency to an upper-limit frequency in a critical band of the main-component frequency of the noise. The noise masking system masks noise without decreasing the sound pressure of the noise.

摘要： A noise masking device for a low-cost laser beam printer, a copier or the like for performing a noise masking with respect to a noise of a drive motor of an image forming apparatus while affording no psychological unpleasant feeling due to a frequency fluctuation thereof. The noise masking device of the image forming apparatus having the drive motor which becomes a source of the noise upon operation thereof includes signal generating means for generating a correlation signal which correlates with the noise, a speaker for generating a masking sound which masks the noise and masking sound control means for controlling the speaker to vary the masking sound corresponding to the variation in the correlation signal.

The generating unit generates image data on the basis of which an image forming unit forms a visible image on a recording medium containing detectable substances using only a coloring material having a spectral reflection factor that is different in a particular wavelength range from a spectral reflection factor that the detectable substances have by a predetermined threshold or more. The output unit outputs the image data generated by the generating unit to the image forming unit.
