Disclosed is a magnetic brush development method comprising supplying a two-component type developer comprising a mixture of magnetic carrier particles with toner particles chargeable by friction with the magnetic carrier particles onto a developing sleeve consisting of a non-magnetic sleeve having a magnet installed therein to form a magnetic brush of the developer, and bringing the magnetic brush in sliding contact with the surface of a photosensitive material having an electrostatic latent image formed thereon in the state where a bias voltage is applied between the photosensitive material and the sleeve, whereby a toner image corresponding to the electrostatic latent image is formed, wherein the two-component type developer comprises a ferrite carrier and electroscopic toner particles at a weight ratio of from 4/1 to 20/1.

Disclosed is a photosensitive plate for electrophotography comprising a photosensitive layer containing a polyvinyl carbazole type photoconductor, wherein a fused tricyclic, tetracyclic or pentacyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, especially a fused tricyclic or tetracyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, is incorporated into the photosensitive layer in an amount of 0.05 to 3 parts by weight per part by weight of the polyvinyl carbazole type photoconductor in the photosensitive layer.By incorporation of this fused aromatic hydrocarbon, the mechanical properties of the photosensitive layer, such as abrasion resistance, toughness and adhesion, are highly improved without bad influences on the sensitivity and other electrophotographic properties.

In an electrostatic photographic process comprising subjecting an electrostatic photographic photosensitive plate to the combination of negative charging, positive charging and imagewise exposure to form an electrostatic latent image of a positive polarity, said electrostatic photographic photosensitive plate having such charging characteristics that a photosensitive layer can be positively charged by sequential negative corona charging and positive corona charging and positive charging is rendered substantially impossible by irradiation with light, and then subjecting the so treated photosensitive plate to positive charging a predetermined number of times, whereby an electrostatic latent image is formed the predetermined number of times by imagewise exposure conducted once, if a zinc oxide-resin dispersion is used for the photosensitive layer of the photosensitive plate and predetermined amounts of a triphenylmethane basic dye and a silicone oil are incorporated in the photosensitive layer, the time required for negative charging can be shortened, and the charge potential at the time of positive charging can be increased and accumulation of the residual potential after irradiation with light can be reduced.
