Abstract: A technique including determining that a first access node serving a communication device is currently in a dormant, first state in which said first access node is not receiving radio transmissions; and controlling a radio transmitter or radio transceiver at said communication device to transmit a radio signal that triggers at least one second access node to alert said first access node of a request for said first access node to switch from said first state to a second state in which said first access node receives radio transmissions.

Abstract: A method includes transmitting a paging indicator indicating to user equipment assigned to one or more groups that the user equipment are to attempt to receive paging messages including paging information targeted to at least one of the one or more groups; and transmitting in a channel the paging information in the paging messages. Another method includes receiving a paging indicator indicating a user equipment is to attempt to receive paging messages including paging information targeted to at least one of one or more groups; and receiving from a channel the paging information in the paging messages. A method includes sending a request message to user equipment assigned to one or more groups, the request message comprising an indication to cause the user equipment to read device trigger information in a system broadcast message; and sending the device trigger information in the system broadcast message.

Abstract: Communication systems, such as the long tem evolution (LTE) of the third generation partnership project (3GPP) may benefit from various optimizations, such as optimizations related to smart phone technology. More particularly, diverse data applications may benefit from enhancements such as physical uplink control channel optimization. According to certain embodiments, a method can include configuring, with radio resource control signaling, a physical uplink control channel resource to one or more devices. The method can also include indicating to each device of the one or more devices, which part of the resource to use.

Abstract: A method for use of a RA preamble with multiple available RACH resources is described. The method includes allocating resources including a plurality of RACH resources for a UE. Information that indicates a dedicated preamble and the allocated resources is sent to the UE. The UE receives the information. A response including the dedicated preamble is generated at the UE. The method also includes the UE sending the response over at least two of the allocated resources. In response to receiving at least one response, a message is transmitted to the UE. Apparatus and computer readable media are also described.

Abstract: A method includes determining at a network node whether paging to be sent from the network node toward an intermediate node for further forwarding to a user equipment will arrive at the user equipment before the user equipment transitions from an idle state to a power save state. The method includes sending or not sending the paging toward the intermediate node based on the determining. Another method includes performing an estimation at a network access node providing wireless network access to a user equipment of how long it will take before a next paging frame or paging occasion occurs for the user equipment, and sending to a network node a value indicative of the estimation. Apparatus, computer programs, and computer program products are also disclosed corresponding to the methods.
