    摘要: An MVA mode liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal layer including liquid crystal molecules having negative dielectric constant anisotropy held between a first substrate and a second substrate. It includes a structural body which controls an alignment direction of the liquid crystal molecules to form a multi-domain in each of pixels. The structural body includes a first structural body which overlaps a light-blocking wiring line, and a second structural body which is disposed in a direction substantially perpendicular to the first structural body and is narrower than the first structural body.

A second substrate includes a counter electrode having a pair of third main electrodes in the belt-like shape arranged above a pair of regions sandwiching the first main electrode extending along a first cross line direction and a pair of fourth main electrodes in the belt-like shape arranged above a pair of regions sandwiching the second main electrode extending along the second cross line direction.

    摘要: In order to realize a thinner liquid crystal display, supporting layers which would otherwise be respectively disposed in polarizing plates, each of which is at the side of a liquid crystal cell, are excluded. And retardation films, which are respectively disposed in the polarizers, each of which is at the side of the liquid crystal cell, are used with an additional function as protective layers of the polarizers. In order to reduce display unevenness, absorption axes of the polarizers are neither parallel nor perpendicular to slow axes respectively of the retardation films. Moreover, the absorption axes of the polarizers are neither parallel nor perpendicular to any one of the sides of the respective retardation films.
