摘要:
This invention relates to comfortable ophthalmic devices and methods of producing such devices. The ophthalmic devices are contacted with a wetting agent and heated to a temperature of at least about 50° C. to about 150° C.
摘要:
The present invention provides a method and a container for sterilizing a soft contact lens and for providing a sterilized storage package of the soft contact lens maintained in a packaging solution. By using the method and container of the invention, deformations of soft contact lenses during autoclave can be substantially reduced.
摘要:
Packaging systems for storing ophthalmic devices such as contact lenses and to methods for packaging such ophthalmic devices with solutions to improve the comfort of the lenses during wear are disclosed. A packaging system includes an ophthalmic device stored in an aqueous packaging solution comprising a substantially water-soluble silicone-containing surfactant. Such solutions are retained on the surface of an unused lens for extended periods of time, resulting in surface modification that persists in the eye, which may provide significant improvement in the wetting properties of fresh contact lenses used for the first time and, moreover, even several hours after lens insertion, preventing dryness and improving lubricity.
摘要:
The present invention provides an aqueous solution for sterilizing and storing ophthalmic devices, preferably a contact lens, made of a hydrogel material, preferably a poly(oxyalkylene)-containing hydrogel material. The solution comprises one or more organic buffer agents, such as a Good buffer or a bis-aminopolyols; an organic tonicity-adjusting agent with multiple hydroxyl groups in an amount sufficient to provide an osmolarity of from about 200 to about 450 mosm/l, wherein the aqueous solution has a pH of from about 5.5 to about 8.5, provided that the aqueous solution include phosphate buffer at a concentration of about 15 mM or less and about 5000 ppm sodium chloride. The present invention also provides a method for sterilizing and storing an ophthalmic device using an aqueous solution of the invention.
摘要:
An aqueous contact lens storage solution comprises a viscoelastic rheology modifier; and not more than 0.3% w/v of an alkali metal salt; the solution has a pH of between 6.0 and 8.0 and an osmolality of between 100 and 400 mOsm/kg, and the solution has viscoelastic properties, even if heat sterilized at 121° C. for at least 15 minutes. The viscoelastic rheology modifier may be selected from the following acids or their alkali metal salts: hyaluronic acid, poly (acrylic acid), crosslinked poly (acrylic acid), poly (methacrylic acid), carboxymethyl cellulose, alginic acid and mixtures thereof. The alkali metal salt may be present in an amount of from 0.01% to 0.3% w/v, and be selected from sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate, disodium hydrogen phosphate, trisodium phosphate, sodium tetraborate, sodium citrate, sodium acetate, sodium lactate, potassium chloride, potassium bicarbonate, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, dipotassium hydrogen phosphate, tripotassium phosphate, potassium tetraborate, potassium citrate, potassium acetate, potassium lactate and mixtures thereof. The solution may be an inhomogeneous combination of a gel component and an additional liquid component. If so, the solution has a pH of between 6.0 and 8.0 and an osmolality of between 100 and 400 mOsm/kg when in a homogeneous form.
摘要:
A contact lens (4) comprises a solid component capable of imparting shape and structure to said lens, and a liquid component, at least partially contained in the solid component, capable of favouring the compatibility between said lens and the eye of a user of said lens, wherein the liquid component comprises a solution capable of being used as a lachrymal substitute.
摘要:
Methods of sterilizing silicone hydrogel contact lenses include exposing one or more silicone hydrogel contact lenses to high energy radiation, such as gamma radiation or electron beam radiation. Sterilized contact lens packages containing such silicone hydrogel contact lenses are also described.
