摘要： A multi function peripheral with a plurality of functions includes a function selecting unit accepting therethrough an input to select a function to be executed from the plurality of functions, a display unit displaying thereon an information screen showing information on the function selected through the function selecting unit, and a display control unit controlling the display unit to, each time a function is selected through the function selecting unit, display thereon a first information screen showing information on the selected function. When a second information screen showing information on a function in execution has been displayed on the display unit, the display control unit controls the display unit to display thereon the first information screen concurrently with the second information screen.

摘要： An image reading device includes: an original table having a stationary original reading area and a moving original reading area on its top surface; an image reading unit provided inside the original table and moving the reading line in the direction of the width of the stationary original reading area and to the moving original reading area with the direction of the length of the stationary original reading area as the reading line; an original cover openably and closably provided on the original table so as to cover at least the stationary original reading area; and an ADF having an original conveyance path leading from an original tray by way of the moving original reading area to an original output tray. The image reading device reads originals of sizes larger than the readable stationary original size without any size increase of the device.

摘要： An image reading apparatus includes: a reading table having a transparent plate having an exposed area which constitutes a part of an outer surface of the table exposed to the exterior, and on which a document with an image thereon is placed; a document holding member movable relative to the table and between a closed and an open position, and thus holding the document and covering the plate; a scanning device disposed on a side of the plate opposite to the side on which the document is placed on the plate, the scanning device being reciprocated in a direction along the plate; an image reading device mounted in the scanning device and including a light source, the reading device emitting light from the light source toward the document on the plate, and receiving the reflected light from the document, to read the image thereby; a control unit controlling reading by the reading device, and a reciprocating movement of the scanning device; a reference member disposed within the exposed area, and used as a reference when an amount of the light emitted from the light source is adjusted; and an external-light detector determining whether external light is entering the table, based on at least one value obtained as a result of reading the reference member.

摘要： In a set of non-reference gamma characteristics corresponding to a density adjustment value, a first region has first characteristics for converting input values to the maximum output value. A second region has second characteristics for converting input values to the minimum output value. A third region defined between the first and second regions has third characteristics for converting input values to intermediate output values. The third characteristics defines a monotonous curve that changes monotonously with respect to change in the amount of the input value. The amount of at least one of the first region and the second region is different from the amount of the corresponding at least one of the first reference region and the second reference region of the reference gamma characteristics by a degree dependent on each density adjustment value.

摘要： A fixing unit is disposed at a position closer to a rear side wall than to a front side wall of a casing. A top wall is formed with a depressed portion depressed toward inside the casing. The depressed portion serves as a sheet discharge tray for receiving a recording medium that has passed through the fixing unit. The sheet discharge tray includes a tray member detachably disposed at the top wall. The rear side wall is formed with an opening through which the fixing unit is removed. When the tray member is disposed at the top wall, the tray member is positioned above and adjacent to the fixing unit and overlaps the fixing unit when viewed through the opening, thereby preventing the fixing unit from being removed from the casing. The fixing unit is removable through the opening when the tray member is detached from the top wall.
