Abstract: A photoacoustic microscope includes a light source, an objective lens, a light scanner, a photoacoustic wave detector, and a calculation unit. The light source emits excitation light. The objective lens focuses the excitation light within a specimen. The light scanner scans the specimen with the excitation light. The photoacoustic wave detector detects photoacoustic waves. The calculation unit uses a correlation coefficient to calculate a shift in waveform due to a change over time in photoacoustic waves between a standard position and a calculation position. The calculation unit calculates the depth from the standard position at the calculation position based on the shift.

Abstract: A signal processing device according to the present invention is a signal processing device that processes data of a detected ultrasound waveform representing a temporal change in the intensity of ultrasound generated at a measurement position in a specimen and includes: a comparison unit that compares a predetermined standard ultrasound waveform and the detected ultrasound waveform at the measurement position and that calculates a degree of similarity between the predetermined standard ultrasound waveform and the detected ultrasound waveform; and a discrimination unit for discriminating whether or not the measurement position corresponds to a predetermined examination subject on the basis of the degree of similarity.

Abstract: A photoacoustic microscope objective lens unit includes: an objective lens which irradiates a sample with excitation light L; a photoacoustic wave detection unit which detects a photoacoustic wave U generated from the sample; and a photoacoustic wave guide system. The photoacoustic wave guide system includes: a photoacoustic wave separation member; and an acoustic lens that is disposed between the photoacoustic wave separation member and the sample and has a focus position that substantially matches with a focus position of the objective lens. The acoustic lens is obtained by cementing a main acoustic lens and a correction acoustic lens to each other. The main acoustic lens and the correction acoustic lens satisfy predetermined Conditional Expressions.
