    Abstract: An electronic blood pressure monitor retrieves a pulsewave signal that is superimposed on a cuff pressure signal and indicates a pulsewave at a measurement site, and acquires a string of pulsewave amplitudes indicated by the pulsewave signal. A first envelope connects the amplitudes created for the acquired string of pulsewave amplitudes. Local maxima and minima in the first envelope are detected. With respect to the strings of amplitudes corresponding respectively to the local maxima and minima, a local-maximum envelope and a local-minimum envelope connecting the amplitudes are created. Two pressure values at points at which portions on the high-pressure-side and low-pressure-side with respect to the maximum peaks of the local-maximum envelope and the local-minimum envelope respectively cross first and second threshold levels are obtained, and the average values of each pair of pressure values are calculated as the systolic blood pressure and the diastolic blood pressure respectively.

    Abstract: A biological information measuring apparatus includes a detector, a measuring unit, a calculator, and a determining unit. The detector detects pulse waves continuously. The measuring unit measures first biological information. The calculator calculates second biological information from the pulse waves based on the first biological information. The measuring unit suspends the measurement and resumes the measurement after a lapse of a period in a case where the determining unit does not determine that the result of measurement is normal, and the measuring unit continues the measurement in other cases where the body motion is not generated, the pulse waves are not irregular or the blood pressure value fails to vary.

    Abstract: A pressure pulse wave detector includes: a pressing member which includes a pressing face in which element arrays each including pressure detecting elements arranged in one direction are arranged in a direction intersecting with the one direction; a pressing mechanism which presses the pressing face against a body surface of a living body; a rotation driving mechanism which rotates the pressing face around each of two axes which are perpendicular to a pressing direction of the pressing face pressed by the pressing mechanism and include a first axis extending in the one direction and a second axis perpendicular to the one direction; a support member which supports the pressing mechanism, the rotation driving mechanism and the pressing member; a housing which houses therein the support member; and a movement mechanism which moves the support member in the one direction inside the housing.
