Abstract: A water treatment system including: a reverse osmosis membrane device A for treating a water to be treated; a reverse osmosis membrane device E for treating permeated water from device A; a reverse osmosis membrane device B for treating concentrated water from device A or E; a reverse osmosis membrane device C for treating concentrated water from device E or A; and each of water flow lines through which the concentrated water and permeated water from devices A to E respectively flow downstream, wherein the connections of each of the water flow lines are switchable so that while the concentrated water from device E flows to device B to wash device B, the concentrated water from device A is treatable by device C, and while the concentrated water from device E flows to device C to wash device C, the concentrated water from device A is treatable by device B.

Abstract: A reverse osmosis membrane treatment system is provided with a first reverse osmosis membrane treatment device wherein water to be treated is passed through a first reverse osmosis membrane to obtain first permeate water and first concentrated water, and at least a second reverse osmosis membrane treatment device, wherein the first permeate water is passed through a second reverse osmosis membrane to obtain second permeate water and second concentrated water. The permeation flux per 1 MPa of effective pressure for the second reverse osmosis membrane is lower than the permeation flux per 1 MPa of effective pressure for the first reverse osmosis membrane, and the permeation flux per 1 MPa of effective pressure for the second reverse osmosis membrane is 0.5 m3/m2/d or less.

Abstract: An electrodeionization device (EDI device) with improved performance for removing weak acid components such as boron includes a deionization chamber partitioned by a pair of ion exchange membranes between an anode and a cathode. A grain size of 0.1 mm or more and 0.4 mm or less is defined as small grain size, and a grain size of more than 0.4 mm is defined as large grain size. In the deionization chamber, a large grain size layer made of an ion exchange resin of large grain size and a mixed grain size layer in which an ion exchange resin of large grain size and an ion exchange resin of small grain size are mixed are arranged along a flow of water to be treated.

One of the first heat exchanger and the second heat exchanger is an internal heat exchanger that exchanges heat inside the water treatment system, and the other is an external heat exchanger that exchanges heat with the outside of the water treatment system.

Abstract: Provided are an apparatus for removing boron and a method for removing boron for reducing the boron concentration in water to be treated, and an apparatus and a method for producing pure water wherein the boron concentration is reduced. An apparatus for removing boron includes: a first electrodeionization device to which water to be treated is supplied; an ultraviolet oxidation device to which the water treated by the first electrodeionization device is supplied; an oxide removal device to which the water treated by the ultraviolet oxidation device is supplied; and a second electrodeionization device to which the water treated by the oxide removal device is supplied. A method for removing boron using the apparatus is provided. The oxide removal device is equipped with a platinum group metal catalyst, and the water that has been treated by the oxide removal device has a hydrogen peroxide concentration of less than 1 ppb.
