Abstract: The present disclosure includes a process and method for brine concentration. A Nano filtration (NF) membrane removes divalent ions while permeating monovalent ions. In a sequential concentration process (membrane and thermal), the monovalent ions reach crystallization. The brine concentrator system can treat the brine of the desalination plants or the effluent of the industrial and chemical plants. The disclosed system can treat the produced water of the oil and gas sector. Two options are disclosed herein. In the first option, an RO system is used to recover water from an FO concentrator where in the second option the advanced MED-AB technology is used to recover water from the FO brine concentrator. The merit of the second option is explored where waste heat energy is available.

Abstract: A control system and a reverse osmosis (RO) system for monitoring membrane performance of reverse osmosis systems controls a first movement of a separator from an initial position to a first position within a permeate tube of the RO system based upon a determination of at least one trigger point from a set of trigger points. The control system and/or the RO system determine a first flowrate of a permeate flowing through a first membrane of a set of membranes of the RO system based upon the first movement of the separator. The control system and/or the RO system calculates a first flux for the first membrane based upon the determined first flowrate and a first surface area of the first membrane. The control system and/or the RO system also displays the calculated first flux on a display screen.

Abstract: A green hydrogen production system and method uses an offshore platform, an offshore renewable energy source, a submerged water desalination apparatus and a water electrolysis apparatus to produce hydrogen and oxygen using power from the renewable energy source and desalinated water from the submerged water desalination apparatus. The system and method enable green hydrogen production with reduced energy use or capital cost compared to onshore systems and systems that do not employ a submerged water desalination apparatus.

Abstract: A system and method for predictive analysis of Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) desalination plants receives first data associated with a SWRO plant, including a first set of parameters associated with seawater, a second set of parameters associated with a permeate, and a third set of parameters associated with a brine. The system determines a fourth set of parameters by applying normalization techniques to the received first data. The system determines, based upon the fourth set of parameters, a set of membrane performance parameters associated with the SWRO plant, or a set of diagnostic indicators associated with at least one of the SWRO plant and the seawater. The system outputs the determined set of membrane performance parameters or the set of diagnostic indicators.

Abstract: A decentralized wastewater reuse design utilizing trickling filter (TF)-based aerobic bioreactors responds to the growing need for efficient energy usage per gallon of wastewater treated and/or pound of biological oxygen demand (BOD) removed from processed influent. A facility based on this design is able to adjust power consumption as needed due to external factors, such as utility rate scheduling, grid availability, and/or renewable power sources, without compromising effluent quality performance or increasing energy intensity. The facility improves on past TF applications by overcoming physical hydraulic constraints and expanding the capacity for both aerobic nitrification and anaerobic denitrification throughout the system. This design reduces grid dependency and overall power utilization per gallon of wastewater treated and/or per pound of BOD removal in alignment with climate-oriented policies that are expected to further exert pressure on states and municipalities to shift to carbon-free energy sources supplying all of their water/wastewater facility operations.
