A method for transmitting in a communication network uplink data from an application module in a user terminal. The method includes: determining, by said user terminal, if a correspondence exists between an application module providing at least one uplink packet and at least one rule designating a network slice instantiation to be used for transmitting uplink packets in the communication network; and in response to a determination by said user terminal that the application module providing at least one uplink packet corresponds to a rule designating a network slice instantiation to be used for transmitting the uplink packet in the communication network, transmitting said at least one uplink packet from the user terminal to an entity for access to a user plane of the designated network slice instantiation.
Abstract:
A method for transmitting a presence map of mobile terminals connected via a communication session to a mobile network covering a plurality of location areas. The method includes: obtaining information relating to existence of at least one special area from among the plurality of location areas and with which a special session-processing rule is associated; iteratively updating a presence map associating location area identifiers with terminal identifiers, including: collecting location information of a terminal, including a location area identifier of the terminal; searching the area information for existence of a special area that corresponds to the location area; and, when the special area exists, adding the terminal identifier and the location area identifier to the terminal presence map; and transmitting the terminal presence map to a device of the mobile network capable of applying a session-processing rule to a terminal in accordance with at least the location area thereof.

A method for transmitting data between a network node of a mobile communication network and a mobile terminal, implemented by the network node after receiving a data packet intended for the mobile terminal. The method includes: sending an alert message to the mobile terminal after receiving the data packet; receiving in response a service request from the mobile terminal; determining in accordance with a parameter received during a phase of attaching the mobile terminal to the network, a channel among a data transport channel and a signaling channel of the mobile network; when the data-transport channel is to be used, establishing a data-transport channel between the mobile terminal and the network node and transmitting the data packet via the data-transport channel; and when the signaling channel is to be used, inserting the data to be transmitted into a signaling message and transmitting the signaling message towards the mobile terminal.

A method for managing a standby state of a mobile terminal in a data packet network. The method includes: upon opening a connectivity session for a mobile terminal, a mobility management entity of the network receives a list of areas, known as a “PRA list”, configured according to a given service and a location of the mobile terminal; when the mobile terminal switches from a “connected” mode to a “standby” mode, the mobile terminal receives the “PRA-list” of areas from the mobility management entity via a network access point; when the mobile terminal enters one of the areas included in the “PRA-list” of areas, it switches from the “standby” mode to the “connected” mode, and transmits a notification to the mobility management entity via a network access point.

A method for managing, in a communication network, network traffic related to a mechanism for signaling the presence of a terminal in a plurality of presence-signaling areas. A mobility management entity receives, for each presence-signaling area of the plurality, an area identifier and a priority level for the area then stores, in a piece of subscriber context related to a subscriber of the terminal, the identifiers and priority levels received in association with an identifier of the terminal. When the load of the mobility management entity is higher than a predefined critical load threshold, the entity suspends the presence-signaling mechanism for the presence-signaling areas, referred to as non-monitored areas, of the plurality in which the priority level is lower than a transitional priority level.

A method for transmitting downlink data from a mobile communication network to a mobile terminal. The method includes: transmitting, from a mobile terminal to a first network entity of the mobile communication network, a parameter indicating that the mobile terminal wishes to use signalling messages rather than a data transport channel for transmission of downlink data; and transmitting, from a second network entity of the mobile communication network to the mobile terminal, at least one signalling message in which downlink data received by a third network entity of the mobile communication network have been inserted.
