    摘要: A switchable autostereoscopic display device comprises a first LED display panel, an array of non-switchable lens elements and a second LED display panel. This arrangement avoids the need for a switchable lens array to implement a switchable 2D/3D display. The first LED display panel can simply be turned off so that the lens array does not play a role in generating a 3D output. The second LED display panel then produces the desired 2D image.

    摘要: A multi-view display device comprises a pixellated display panel and a backlight comprising an arrangement of light sources (30), wherein each light source, when turned on, illuminates an associated region of pixels of the display panel. A display controller is adapted to control the pixellated display panel and the arrangement of light sources such that a partial display output is provided comprising simultaneously a set of at least three 2D views with no repetition of individual 2D views. This arrangement provides an output with controlled illumination direction of the pixels so that view repetitions are avoided. The output can be a single cone of views, and the location from which the cone of views can be viewed depends on the relationship between the light sources of the backlight which are activated and the display panel.

The first and second prism axes are in a crossed configuration.     摘要: An autostereoscopic display device comprises a display panel (3) having an array of display pixel elements (5) for producing a display, the display pixel elements being arranged in rows and columns. An imaging arrangement (9) directs the output from different pixel elements to different spatial positions to enable a stereoscopic image to be viewed. The imaging arrangement comprises first and second polarization-sensitive lenticular arrays (50,52), wherein the light incident on the imaging arrangement is controllable to have one of two possible polarizations, and wherein each of the two possible polarizations gives a different 3D mode. These multiple modes can be used to increase the resolution, or increasing the number of views, or provide additional functionality to the display device.

    摘要: The invention relates to a luminaire that enables the use of more sparsely distributed light sources, having a uniform fixture surface brightness and good color mixing. The luminaire comprises first and second light guide layers (10, 11) optically coupled together by at least one optical coupler (12a, 12b), which allows the passage of light from the first (10) to the second light guide layer (11). The luminaire also comprises a plurality of light sources (16a, 16b), each of which being arranged such that light emitted by the light source (16a, 16b) is coupled into the first light guide layer (10) at an interface surface (17)arranged substantially perpendicularly to a longitudinal axis of the first light guide layer (10). The luminaire further comprises a scattering element (14) adapted to cause light to be emitted from an emitting surface of the second light guide layer (11). By providing two optically coupled light guide layers (10, 11), one for receiving light emitted by the light sources (16a, 16b) and the other for emission, greater opportunity for dispersion and color mixing of the light is provided.
