Abstract:
A device for detecting optical radiation comprising a plurality of series-connected thermocouples which form a pattern comprising a plurality of straight parallel rows which each consist of alternate elements made of two different materials so that alternate cold and hot junctions are produced. To obtain good thermal insulation between the hot junctions slits are formed between the said rows.
Abstract:
A multiple semiconductor modulator for electromagnetic radiation, particularly suitable as an attitude sensor in artificial satellites consisting of a preferably circular semiconductor plate which is divided into sectors by contacts provided on oppositely located major surfaces of the plate. Each sector which is provided with an injecting contact on the one major surface and with a non-injecting contact on the opposite major surface forms an independent modulator.
Abstract:
Differential, immersed, thermistor bolometer formed by a planoconvex, transparent lens-support and two thermistors, one active and one compensation element, both deposited on the flat face of said lens.
Abstract:
A sighting device equipped with two optical systems which each comprise an optical modulator and a lens and the optical axes of which intersect at an acute angle and with a radiation-sensitive detector is described. It is shown that by inserting auxiliary radiation sources between the lenses of the optical systems and the radiation-sensitive detector and by using the lenses as catadioptric systems for imaging the auxiliary radiation sources asymmetrical errors can be eliminated.
Abstract:
An attitude scanning device for a spacecraft which is in a circular orbit about the earth, which device can be used during the coarse and the final determinations of this attitude. A bolometer receives the infrared radiation from the earth after this radiation has been modulated by an electro-optical modulator composed of sectors. The device enables the rolling and pitching errors to be simultaneously determined.
