    Abstract: A battery operated automatic reflex camera comprising a film transport motor which performs the several functions of moving the reflex mirror to the viewing position, advancing an exposed film unit into a position where it can be grasped by a pair of processing rolls, and driving the processing rolls to eject the film unit while distributing the processing fluid throughout the film unit. The camera is arranged to be powered by a battery, and the apparatus includes a timing belt driven by the motor. The timing belt drives the processing rolls, and controls a cam that sequentially operates the mirror and then operates an advance mechanism before the film unit is engaged by the processing rolls so that the load on the battery is minimized.

    Abstract: This specification discloses a photoflash circuit for modulating the flash output of a photoflash device in accordance with the focus setting of a camera. The circuit includes an energy storage device, a triggering circuit to supply the energy to the photoflash device and an energy dissipating resistor in series with the flash tube to limit its light output. The circuit includes a control means comprising an electronic switching means to shunt the energy dissipating resistor out of the photoflash device circuit to increase the light output from the flash tube and a timing circuit to produce a triggering signal to energize the switching means. The timing circuit includes an adjustable resistor mechanically coupled to the camera focus controls for varying the triggering time of the switching means and the time the resistor remains in the flash tube circuit.

    Abstract: A circuit is provided for automatically inducing an actinic discharge in a gas discharge photoflashlamp in response to the actuation of a camera shutter. Means are provided for electronically controlling the duration of the actinic discharge as a function of camera focus setting. Basically, the duration control means comprises a capacitor in the discharge path of a photoflashlamp and shunted by an electronic switch. The switch is normally closed so as to short circuit the capacitor. A timing circuit opens the switch after a time interval determined by the camera focus setting and causes the lamp to quickly charge the capacitor in its discharge path so as to terminate the actinic discharge emanating from the lamp.
