Abstract:
WHEREIN: M is hydrogen or methyl; R is an alkylene group comprising less than six carbon atoms or a substituted alkylene group; EACH D is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl; and N IS THE TOTAL NUMBER OF A and B residues in the polymer chain. The copolymers are useful as hardeners for protein-containing emulsions, especially, for example, gelatin emulsions employed in the photographic art. The copolymers of the present invention can also be advantageously employed to selectively adjust the viscosity of protein-containing emulsions to predetermined levels.
A copolymer soluble in aqueous and/or partially aqueous solution and having a chain comprising the entities A and B defined below:
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to photography and particularly to diffusion transfer color processes wherein the color separation and highlights are significantly enhanced by carrying out said process in the presence of an onium salt of a polymeric anion.
Abstract:
An imaging system wherein an image is formed in terms of optical rotation which comprises exposing a photo-sensitive silver halide emulsion, contacting the exposed emulsion with a layer comprising an optically active polymeric sulfoxide and developing the latent image in the emulsion with a reagent which is a silver halide developing agent and which destroys the optical rotation provided by the sulfoxide group. An image is thus formed in the layer superposed on the emulsion layer by destruction of the optical rotation of the sulfoxide by contact with unexhausted developer. The image is viewed between rotatable polarizers.
Abstract:
A NOVEL IMAGE FORMING SYSTEM COMPRISING GORMING AN IMAGEWISE DISTRIBUTION OF A MORDANT IN THE DEVELOPED AREAS OF AN EXPOSED PHOTOSENSITIVE LAYER, MORDANTING DYE IN SAID AREAS, AND FORMING A REVERSE IMAGE IN TERMS OF DYE TRANSFERRED BY DIFFUSION FROM UNDEVELOPED AREAS OF THE PHOTOSENSITIVE LAYER TO AN IMAGE-RECEIVING LAYER.
Abstract:
Novel photograhpic products for use in diffusion transfer systems for forming visible images, particularly systems for forming color images viewable, without separation as color reflection prints, which products include a neutralizing layer for lowering the environmental pH after application of an aqueous alkaline processing fluid, the neutralizing layer being prepared by coating an aqueous solution of a water-soluble cross-linkable acidic polymer on a layer of the film unit including a nondiffusible cross-linking agent for the acidic polymer, whereby to cross-link and thereby harden the thus applied layer of acidic polymer at least at the interface of the respective layers. The non-diffusible cross-linking agent may be the only component of the layer or substrate on which the neutralizing layer is applied or it may be present along with other materials, e.g., as the major component of the substrate.
