Abstract: A color conversion element includes: a substrate; a phosphor portion that is disposed above the substrate, receives laser light transmitted from an outside, and emits light in a color different from a color of the laser light; a reflective layer that includes a dielectric multilayer film and is disposed on a principal surface of the phosphor portion facing the substrate; and a joining portion interposed between the reflective layer and the substrate to join the reflective layer and the substrate. The joining portion includes an air layer that exposes the reflective layer in a position where the air layer at least partially overlaps an irradiation region in a plan view, the irradiation region being a region irradiated with the laser light on the phosphor portion.

Abstract: A light emitting device includes a first wavelength converter that contains a first phosphor that absorbs at least part of primary light radiated by a radiation source and converts the primary light absorbed into secondary light, and a second wavelength converter that contains a second phosphor that absorbs at least part of the secondary light and converts the secondary light absorbed into tertiary light. The lifetime of fluorescence emitted from the second phosphor is longer than the lifetime of fluorescence emitted from the first phosphor, and the light density of the secondary light, with which the second wavelength converter is irradiated, is lower than the light density of the primary light, with which the first wavelength converter is irradiated.

Abstract: A phosphor wheel includes a substrate including a first principal surface and a second principal surface located opposite to each other, a phosphor layer on the first principal surface, and a heat dissipating member disposed so as to oppose one of the first principal surface and the second principal surface. Abstract: A phosphor wheel includes: a substrate; and a plurality of phosphor layers disposed apart from each other on the substrate along a circumferential direction. Each phosphor layer includes a first fluorescence emitter and a second fluorescence emitter that are disposed side by side along the circumferential direction and emit fluorescence having mutually different colors. A fluorescence efficiency of the second fluorescence emitter when the second fluorescence emitter is irradiated with excitation light is lower than a fluorescence efficiency of the first fluorescence emitter when the first fluorescence emitter is irradiated with the excitation light. In plan view, a blank portion is located adjacent to the second fluorescence emitter in the circumferential direction, the blank portion being a portion of the substrate where no phosphor layer is disposed. The phosphor wheel rotates to cause the second fluorescence emitter to be irradiated with the excitation light immediately after the blank portion.
