摘要: A receiver in a digital broadcast system is provided for storing broadcast content files for on-demand playback purposes. The content files are transmitted in a partitioned format. Users can select which content files are to be captured in a memory device following reception. The receiver is operable to monitor the reception of content file segments and, when a selected on-demand content file has been completely received, to generate an alert message to notify a user that the content is available for retrieval from the memory device and playback via an output device.

摘要: An optical transmission network is inherently asynchronous due to the utilization of a variable overhead ratio (V-OHR). The network architecture makes extensive use of OEO regeneration, i.e., deals with any electronic reconditioning to correct for transmission impairments, such as, for example, FEC encoding, decoding and re-encoding, signal reshaping, retiming as well as signal regeneration. The optical transmission network includes a plesiochronous clocking system with intermediate nodes designed to operate asynchronously with a single local frequency clock without complicated network synchronization schemes employing high cost clocking devices such as phase locked loop (PLL) control with crystal oscillators and other expensive system components. The asynchronous network operation provides for asynchronous remapping or remapping of any client signal utilizing any type of transmission protocol where the line side rate or frequency is always the same frequency for the payload signal and the local frequency at an intermediate node is set to a local reference clock in accordance with the payload type and its overhead ratio, i.e., the overhead ratio is varied to meet the desired difference between the line rate or frequency and the desired client signal payload rate or frequency for the particular client signal payload type.

摘要: A method of conducting a video poker game that includes a plurality of winning hands that award corresponding payouts to a player is disclosed. A wager is received from a player to play the video poker game and in response a final user-playable hand is formed. The final user-playable hand includes a plurality of cards that are displayed to the player on a display. In response to the final user-playable hand being one of the plurality of winning hands, the cards forming a winning combination within the winning hand are removed from the final user-playable hand and are replaced with other cards to form a first bonus hand. A first payout corresponding to the one of the plurality of winning hands in the final user-playable hand is awarded.

摘要: A system and method are provided for creating and managing electronic documents, complete with navigational elements, suitable for distribution over a computer network, such as the Internet. The invention includes a method for adding both linear and hierarchical navigation to the electronic document, as well as a method for the generation and management of the appropriate navigational links. The invention also includes a method to apply custom designs to the electronic document through the use of a templating mechanism. The electronic documents produced by the invention are composed of static text and images, do not require any dynamic server process and can be hosted by any Internet Web server software or hosted locally on any computer system or read-only medium, requiring no proprietary hosting technology.

摘要: An array of spatially-separated optical detectors is configured to receive a free-space optical communication signal from a remote source. Each optical detector of the array includes an optical system and an array of light sensors. The optical system collects a portion of light received from the remote source and directs it toward the array of light sensors. The array of light sensors, in turn, converts the collected portion of light to one or more electrical, detected signals corresponding to the collected portion of light. A processor is coupled to the array of spatially-separated optical detectors, receiving the detected signals and combining the received signals to obtain information borne by the received optical communication signal.

摘要: A spherical ball and a method of making the spherical ball wherein the ball has a plurality of elongated dimples substantially covering the outer surface of the ball without any dimple overlap. The elongated dimples are of at least two types including a first plurality of dimples having a minor axis and a major axis which together form the long axis of the first plurality of dimples. The minor axis being less than the major axis. A second plurality of dimples has a minor axis equal to that of the first plurality of dimples and a major axis less than the major axis of the first plurality of dimples but greater than the minor axis.

摘要: The present invention relates generally to the field of cooling devices. More specifically, the present invention relates to a table fan device comprised of at least one fan that is further comprised of at least one fan blade, a housing, at least one button, and at least one motor. The device may, in differing embodiments, attach itself to the underside of a table via the use of fasteners and support arms. The device is powered by a motor that rotates the fan blades around a vertical shaft to create airflow. In this manner, the device efficiently expels airflow to create an ideal climate for its users. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices and methods of manufacture.
