Abstract:
A method of making a closure having an end panel and a sealing liner on one face of the end panel includes providing an injection mold having at least first and second mold elements, at least one of which is movable with respect to the other. The first and second mold elements are positioned to form a first mold cavity, and the end panel is injection molded within the first mold cavity. At least one of the first and second mold elements then is moved to form a second mold cavity in which a face of the end panel forms at least one mold cavity wall, and the sealing liner is injection molded onto the face of the end panel. The end panel and liner are then removed from the second mold cavity. The liner/disk subassembly thus is provided more easily and economically than if the liner were compression molded in situ onto the undersurface of a separately formed disk. The closure preferably is a two-piece closure, and the method preferably includes the step of assembling the end panel to a separately formed closure shell.
Abstract:
Offers are targeted to consumers by comparing offer profiles and consumer profiles. Offer profiles are created by analyzing the cumulative content of communications associated with consumers who respond to the offers. Consumer profiles are created by analyzing the cumulative content of communications associated with a user of an electronic communications system. An offer may be selected to be sent to a user based on the relative similarity between the user's consumer profile and the offer profile.
Abstract:
An anti-copy film is disclosed. The film has a light transmissive imageable substrate having opposing first and second surfaces. Each surface has an image receptive coating. Complementary positive and negative images are disposed on the first and second surfaces such that an imaged area on the first surface is in registration with a non-imaged area on the second surface. The anti-copy film appears substantially opaque when viewed orthogonally to and appears partially transparent when viewed obliquely to either the first or second surfaces.
Abstract:
The present invention pertains to privacy film that can be used with documents. The privacy film has a light transmissive, polymeric base sheet that has opposing first and second surfaces. A plurality of light directing elements protrudes from the first surface of the base sheet. The base sheet can be constructed of a first polymeric material. The light directing elements can be constructed of a second polymeric material. The first and second polymeric material may be the same material. The light directing elements are substantially constant in its cross-section dimension and disposed substantially parallel to each other.
Abstract:
A remote web site authoring system is located on a server in communication with one or more clients via a network with in a distributed computing environment. The system provides a what-you-see-is-what-you-get (WYSIWYG) interface program that enables the client to edit a web page of within a web site maintained on the remote server while concurrently viewing a replica of that web page. The system dynamically generates the replica of the web page while the client is editing the web page. The system combines the two elements of remote authoring, i.e., editing the web site and viewing the web site, enabling the user to view a replica of the web site during the editing process.
Abstract:
The concept of a subroutine call is one of the basic ideas in computer science. The invention relates to a technique for achieving the effect of subroutine calls in certain situations where they would not otherwise be possible. The invention allows for the simulation of subroutine calls in applications where the interaction with a client is reduced to successive iterations in which the application sends the client a set of keys, and the client chooses one of the keys and sends it back to the application (i.e., a minimal interface). In one implementation, the invention is used to simulate subroutine calls in an application running on a Web server and communicating with the client through successive Web pages.
Abstract:
A method for automatically controlling the downhill speed of a machine. The method includes establishing a target machine speed based on a current machine speed and determining whether at least one trigger condition including a grade greater than a predetermined threshold has been satisfied. If satisfied, the method activates a control system to control at least one of a powertrain retarder and a change in a transmission gear to prevent exceeding the target machine speed.
Abstract:
A method of making a privacy film includes generally the following steps: providing a polymeric material, depositing the polymeric material onto a microstructured mold comprising a plurality of substantially parallel, elongated channels with specific geometry; inducing the polymeric material to flow into the channels of the microstructured mold; solidifying the polymeric material inside the channels to yield a plurality of light directing elements that are connected with one another via a polymeric base sheet; and separating the privacy film from the microstructured mold.
