摘要: A computer-based apparatus for dispensing a medication, including: at least one specially programmed computer; and, a medication device. The at least one specially programmed computer is arranged to calculate or modify, for a patient, a dosage for a first orally-administered or injectable medication and a constraint related to administration of the dosage by using a current point in time, a point in time at which a previous dosage of the first orally-administered or injectable medication was administered, information regarding a second medication prescribed for the patient, or real time physiological data for a patient. The medication device is arranged to: extract the first orally-administered or injectable medication from a medication storage element; and non-intravenously dispense the first orally-administered or injectable medication in accordance with the dosage and the constraint.

摘要: A method of scanning a set of documents in a container such as a file folder or storage box where the container contains a unique label containing identification associated with the documents in the container. The label comprises both alphanumeric characters and color information where each character is associated with a particular color. By scanning the container and analyzing the image of the container the unique identification can be retrieved with increased reliability by using both the color and alphanumeric information.

The user interface is configured to receive input data related to at least one type of medication to be packaged, wherein the user interface communicates the input data to the CPU for processing. A dispensing system is in communication with the processing device, wherein the dispensing system is configured to be pre-supplied with the at least one type of medication and to dispense the at least one type of medication based on the input data communicated from the CPU to the dispensing system. Also included in the system is a printing system in communication with the processing device. A printing system is configured to generate a print of instructional data based on the input data communicated from the CPU to the printing system, wherein the print of instructional data includes data correspondingly related to the at least one type of medication dispensed by the dispensing system. A packaging system is in communication with the dispensing system and configured to seal the at least one type of medication dispensed from the dispensing system within the personalized packaging.

摘要: Renatured chitosan having an optical rotation in solution that is at least 20% more negative than that of untreated chitosan and the process of making same. The process for preparing such renatured chitosan is accomplished by aging a solution of chitosan in an aqueous acid at a pH of about 2.0 to 5.5. It is preferred to age the solution at room temperature for about 2 to 14 days until the optical activity shifts toward the negative by at least about 20%.
