摘要: An apparatus for developing an electrostatic latent image with liquid developing material. The apparatus includes a liquid developing material coating flow applicator for applying a substantially uniform coating of liquid developing material to a moving surface, wherein a housing, situated proximate to the moving surface, includes a fluid transport channel having a relatively narrow-width elongated outlet port for delivering a flow of liquid developing material to the moving surface, and an air flow channel having an elongated inlet aperture located adjacent the moving surface and immediately upstream from said outlet port for applying vacuum pressure to the flow of liquid developing material for varying the profile of the coating flow to provide variation of flow stability as well as thickness. A discussion of the effects of variations in the outlet port geometry, in particular, increasing the dimension between the downstream wall and the surface to be coated, has also been provided. A developing roll situated adjacent to and downstream from the liquid developing material is also provided for attracting the liquid developing material to image areas of the electrostatic latent image.

摘要: A business method for defining, controlling, and optimizing a flow of value down a workflow pipeline includes creating a phase-gate workflow pipeline for one or more projects in which completion of one or more predetermined activities of each project advances the project to a succeeding phase in the pipeline. Each of the activities for each project in the pipeline is mapped to a value metric that is a function of a risk discount factor using an option valuation technique. The projects and/or portfolio of projects are then analyzed to determine the flow of value down the pipeline and managed based on analysis of this flow of value.

An exemplary embodiment of the apparatuses useful in printing includes a first fixing device disposed along a first media path. The first fixing device includes a first fixing member including a first surface and a second fixing member including a second surface which forms a first nip with the first surface. The first fixing device does not include a thermal energy source that actively heats the first surface or the second surface and the first fixing device is adapted to apply pressure to a medium received at the first nip. A second fixing device is disposed along a second media path. The second fixing device includes at least one thermal energy source adapted to supply thermal energy to actively heat the medium at the second fixing device. A controller is configured to selectively route the medium to the first fixing device or to the second fixing device.

摘要: A method and apparatus for eliminating undesirable development of background charge potentials in a multicolor electrostatographic system is disclosed, wherein the application of a developer bias at a given development station is selectively controlled to be substantially equal to or greater than the background image voltage of the image generated by a preceding imaging station such that the voltage differential between toner particles at the development station and the background areas including the previous image areas is substantially zero and the electrostatic forces acting on the toner particles are insufficient to attract the toner particles to the residual image. A method and apparatus is disclosed for eliminating redevelopment of previous images in a multicolor electrostatographic system, and, more particularly, an image-on-image multicolor system, wherein the imaging and development biases for each color in the printing process is systematically adjusted so as to eliminate charge potential differentials which can operate to attract toner particles to the receiving member in a subsequent image development procedure.

摘要: A printing machine having a pair of photoconductive drums with a transfer roller interposed therebetween produces a full color document in two operating cycles. During the first operating cycle, a first color developed image is transferred from the first photoconductive drum to a sheet moving with the transfer roller. A second color developed image is transferred from the second photoconductive drum to the sheet in superimposed registration with the first developed image transferred thereto. During the second operating cycle, the foregoing process is repeated for a third color developed image and a fourth color developed image. In this way, a full color composite toner image is formed on the sheet.

摘要: An apparatus which develops an electrostatic latent image recorded on a photoconductive member with toner. The toner in the chamber of the developer housing is fluidized and transported thereacross by an elongated member. A donor roller advances the toner particles to a latent image recorded on a photoconductive member. A rotating rod resiliently urged into contact with the donor roller charges the toner on the donor roller. In order to attract toner particles to the donor roller, the elongated member and the charging rod are electrically biased by voltages having the same polarity. The elongated member and the charging rod are electrically biased by voltages of opposite polarity to denude the donor roller of toner particles.

摘要: An apparatus which develops a latent image recorded on an image receiving member with marking particles. A chamber in a developer housing stores a supply of charged marking particles. The marking particles having a charge distribution. A donor roll is positioned in the chamber of the housing to transport marking particles closely adjacent to the latent image to develop the latent image. A rotating, elongated member moves the marking particles. An electrical bias is applied between the elongated member and the donor roll to selectively attract marking particles from the elongated member to the donor roll. The marking particles attracted to the donor roller have a charge distribution with a selected range. The range of the charge distribution of the marking particles attracted to the donor roller is less than the range of the charge distribution of the marking particles being moved by the elongated member.
