摘要: A fuel accumulator is provided to assist restarting a direct injection engine fuel system. The fuel accumulator includes a central guide post with a fuel passage. A cup shaped plunger with a closed end is slideably disposed on the central guide post. A seal means is disposed between the plunger and the central guide post to define a substantially sealed fuel chamber. A biasing means is provided to urge the plunger onto the central guide post. A fuel admission valve selectively prevents and permits fuel from entering and exiting the fuel accumulator. When a fuel system stop is commanded, pressurized fuel is admitted into the fuel chamber, thereby compressing the biasing means which maintains a restart pressure. When a fuel system start is commanded, pressurized fuel is expelled from the fuel accumulator.

摘要: A zero emissions fuel system includes a fuel tank fluidly interconnected with a fuel vapor containment and absorption canister. The canister is further interconnected with an engine intake manifold via a purge solenoid valve that controls the extent to which a vacuum in the intake manifold affects the canister. The canister is also interconnected with the ambient environment via at least one selectively operable valve. During normal operation of the engine, the purge solenoid valve allows the intake manifold to draw fuel vapor from the canister for consumption by the engine. At a predetermined vacuum pressure, the at least one valve opens, thereby allowing outside air to flow into the system through the vacuum relief valve to facilitate purging of the canister.

摘要: A valve mechanism to control fluid flow between a fluid pumping device and a system that includes an inlet from the fluid pumping device, a first valve, a second valve, a first outlet fluidly connected to the system, and a second outlet. The first valve prevents backflow of fluid when the fluid pumping device discontinues pumping fluid to the system. The second valve checks fluid flow through the valve to the first outlet when fluid pressure at the inlet is less than a first predetermined pressure. The second valve permits fluid flow from the pump through the valve to the system only when fluid pressure at the inlet is greater than the first predetermined pressure. The second valve prevents fluid pressure in the system from substantially exceeding a second predetermined pressure when the pumping device is not pumping fluid to the system.

摘要: A seal assembly for a fuel tank having a tank opening therein includes an access cover adapted to close the tank opening. The seal assembly also includes a first seal made of a compressible material adapted to be disposed between the access cover and a tank surface of the fuel tank. The seal assembly includes a second seal made of a non-permeating material adapted to be disposed between the access cover and the tank surface. The seal assembly further includes an attachment plate for attachment to the tank surface and adapted to be disposed about the tank opening. The seal assembly includes at least one attachment fastener cooperating with the attachment plate to secure the access cover to the attachment plate and to seal the tank opening via the first seal and the second seal.

摘要: A pressure regulating valve including a valve seat on valve body, a valve element having a flow directing surface, and a spring biasing the valve element toward a closed position in which the flow directing surface bears against and defines a fluid seal at the valve seat. The valve element has a range of open positions in which the flow directing surface and the valve seat are progressively further separated and in which they cooperate in defining an annular flow orifice the area of which varies with the span between the valve seat and the flow directing surface. The flow directing surface redirects fluid flow upstream of the annular flow orifice through about 150.degree. to 180.degree. to induce on the valve element a force reaction which cooperates with a fluid pressure force reaction on the valve element to improve the sensitivity of the valve element to changes in fluid pressure upstream of the annular flow orifice. A skirt of the flow directing surface downstream of the annular flow orifice directs fluid flow substantially parallel to the direction of movement of the valve element to minimize the sensitivity of the valve element to a velocity induced pressure gradient across the valve element.
