    摘要: A vapor recovery canister is provided and includes an inlet port, an outlet port, and a first and second valve. The first and second valves are operable to restrict fluid flow into the canister, whereby the first valve is operable to selectively close the inlet port and the second valve is operable to selectively close the outlet port. In addition, the second valve includes at least one orifice formed therethrough for continuous fluid communication with an ambient air stream. In this manner, if both the first and second valves are in a closed position, an ambient air stream will be in fluid communication with an interior volume of the canister during a purging process through interaction of the orifice. The interaction of the orifice causes a high vacuum pressure within the canister, thereby increasing working capacity and reducing diurnal breathing loss.

    摘要: An evaporated fuel treatment apparatus is provided for reducing a refilling time, ensuring satisfactory adsorption/desorption performance for an evaporated fuel, and reducing the manufacturing cost through a simplified structure. The evaporated fuel treatment apparatus comprises a casing having formed therein a first chamber in communication with the fuel tank, a second chamber in communication with the first chamber, and a third chamber in communication with the second chamber and the atmosphere. Active carbons are contained in the first chamber and second chamber for adsorbing fuel components in an evaporated fuel introduced from the fuel tank. An adsorbent is contained in the third sub-chamber for adsorbing fuel components in the evaporated fuel introduced from the second chamber. The adsorbent has an air-flow resistance which is set smaller than that of the active carbons.

    摘要: An evaporated fuel treatment device in which performance of a canister can be improved, with the result that efficiency in treatment of evaporated fuel can be enhanced. In the evaporated fuel treatment device, a purge control valve, conventionally disposed on a purge passage, is removed, such that the canister is directly subject to a negative pressure generated on the side of an inlet pipe at the time of starting of an engine. Consequently, a great attraction force acts on the evaporated fuel adsorbed within the canister. Also, by restricting a flow of air introduced into the canister by means of a flow control valve, the negative pressure applied to the canister can further be increased. As a result, in the evaporated fuel treatment device of the invention, the amount of the evaporated fuel which can be desorbed from the canister is larger than that of a conventional device.

    摘要: A fuel vapor purging method controls fuel vapor purging during stratified operation. Several factors influence vapor purge control, including fuel vapor concentration in the cylinder and temperature of the emission control device. The fuel vapor passes through the cylinder unburned by maintaining the concentration within allowable limits. The unburned fuel vapor reacts exothermically in the emission control device thereby generating heat. To guarantee that the fuel vapor reacts in the first emission control device, the fuel vapor purge is restricted to a certain temperature range. To guarantee that the fuel vapor does not burn in the cylinder, the concentration is kept to a restricted value.

    摘要: A method for determining the fuel content of a regeneration gas during regeneration of an intermediate fuel vapor storage unit in internal combustion engines with gasoline direct injection in lean (stratified) mode. Stored fuel vapor is supplied to the engine as regeneration gas via a controllable tank venting valve. The signal of an exhaust gas analyzer probe in the exhaust gas is considered for determining the fuel content of the regeneration gas. An adjustment between the analyzer probe signal and a preselected setpoint occurs while the tank venting valve is closed. The analyzer probe signal is combined with a correction quantity while the tank venting valve is closed, so that the combination corresponds to the setpoint. The analyzer probe signal is combined in the same manner with the previously obtained correction valve while the tank venting value is open. Regeneration gas charge is determined from this combination.
