    摘要: A transmission having engagement mechanisms which employ an engagement inner having cam surfaces forming the race thereof, an engagement outer having a circular outer race and rollers therebetween. A cage mechanism angularly positions the rollers such that they may be wedged between the cam surfaces and the outer race so as to interlock the engagement inner and outer. Actuator mechanisms are employed which are axially movable to engage and angularly position the cages relative to the engagement inner for controlling the engagement mechanism. A plurality of control systems both electronic and mechanical control the operation of the engagement mechanism so as to require substantially synchronous movement between engaging elements. Alternately, nonsynchronous shifting may be accomplished under power for power or rapid shifting. Clutch inhibit may also be employed to prevent premature reengagement of the clutch before shift complete.

    摘要: A drive mechanism for a boat having the motor located inboard. The mechanism disclosed includes a gearbox located outboard of the transom with an input shaft extending toward the inboard motor and an output shaft extending aft toward a propeller shaft. A univerasl joint coupling is provided to drive the propeller shaft while a gimbal ring is employed to universally mount a propeller shaft housing such that the propeller may be used for steerage as well as forward thrust. The gearbox is disclosed as including a first gear pair capable of being changed to provide different output ratios. A second drive link in the gearbox gives a selection of directions of rotation of the propeller shaft. In a first instance, a gear pair is employed. In a second instance, a chain drive is employed. Access is provided into the gearbox by a plate located between the gearbox and the transom. This plate provides a mounting for the drive links within the gearbox. Another gearbox having a single gear pair is also disclosed for lowering the level of the propeller shaft relative to the boat hull.

    摘要: A dual bevel gear differential transaxle assembly for a front transverse engine vehicle with front and rear pairs of road wheels providing a constant four wheel drive system. A first interaxle bevel gear differential and a second front wheel bevel gear differential are aligned on a transverse axis. The differentials are connected by a side gear shaft and inner and outer side gear sleeves concentric about the side gear shaft. The first differential achieves front axle to rear axle differentiation while the second differential provides differentiation for the front pair of road wheels. The dual differential transaxle assembly includes clutch means providing selective lock-out of the first differential. With the clutch means disengaged the first differential is in its unlocked mode whereby the transaxle assembly provides differentiation between the front and rear axles. Upon the clutch means being manually engaged the first differential is locked-up and there is no differentiation between the front and rear axles.

    摘要: A dual bevel gear differential transaxle assembly for a front transverse engine vehicle with front and rear pairs of road wheels providing a part time on-demand four-wheel drive system. Interaxle and front wheel bevel gear differentials are aligned on a transverse axis.
