摘要: A jet injection device with a fluid chamber in a housing member for holding about 0.02 ml to about 3 ml of a medicament. An injection-assisting needle has an injection end that extends from the housing for inserting into a patient to a depth of up to about 5 mm. A force-generating source is configured to apply a pressure reaching about 100-1000 psi to the medicament in the chamber to expel the medicament through the injecting end of the needle.

摘要: A needle assisted jet injector and method for jet injecting medicament are disclosed. In one embodiment of the injector, the needle is retractably located within an injector nozzle assembly. Upon activation of the force generating source, a portion of the needle extends past the nozzle assembly and penetrates the outer layer of skin to deliver the medicament via jet injection to a deeper region. After activation, the needle retracts back into the nozzle assembly. In another embodiment, the needle is fixed to the end of the nozzle assembly. In both embodiments, the length of the portion of the needle that penetrates the skin is less than 5 mm.

摘要: A probe and nozzle assembly for reducing the pressure at which a needleless injector must deliver medicament for proper delivery are disclosed. In one embodiment of the probe, the probe is retractably located within an injector nozzle assembly. Upon activation of the energy source a portion of the probe extends past the nozzle assembly to deliver the medicament through a discharge channel. After activation the probe retracts back into the nozzle assembly. In another embodiment, the probe is fixed to the end of the nozzle assembly. In both embodiments the ratio of discharge channel length to diameter is greater than 6/1. The present invention also relates to nozzle assemblies with a discharge channel length to diameter ratio greater than 6/1.

摘要: The invention relates to methods and devices for delivering medicament by jet injection to an injection site in a patient. The method includes inserting a needle into an insertion point, wherein the needle has a length of less than 5 mm and is operatively associated with an orifice in a nozzle assembly in fluid communication with an ampule chamber containing the medicament. The needle extends less than about 5 mm from the nozzle assembly orifice when the medicament is expelled. Next, a force generating mechanism is activated, and a pressure wall member that is operatively associated with the force generating member moves in response to the activation of the force generating mechanism at a speed sufficient to jet inject the medicament from the ampule chamber through the orifice and needle under a pressure of less than about 4000 psi to deliver a substantial portion of the medicament through the needle and past the insertion point to the injection site. The needle tip maybe part of a retractable needle of a jet injection device, or is part of a fixed needle of a jet injection device.

摘要: A jet injector having cartridge and power pack assemblies is disclosed. In one embodiment, the cartridge assembly includes a tube containing the medicament with a plunger at one end and a stopper at the other end. The plunger is movable within the tube lumen to force the stopper against a needle, thereby creating a fluid pathway through the stopper. In another embodiment, only the plunger is movable within the tube lumen and the stopper, which can be integral to the rest of the cartridge assembly or a separate component, already has a pathway for ejection of the medicament. The present invention also relates to an energy mechanism for the power pack assembly that is a gas spring containing a charging material existing in liquid and gaseous phase equilibrium within the gas spring to maintain a substantially constant pressure prior to activation.
