摘要: This invention is designed and intended to provide simple, precise delivery of a variety of medications to mucosal surfaces of a living subject, human or non-human animal, including but not limited to the nasal or rectal mucosa, which sites afford rapid absorption and therefore onset of effect of the thus delivered medication. Such medications include, but are not limited to, anticonvulsants, drugs to treat anaphylactic shock, antidotes for poisoning, and medications which are required urgently where either a parenteral formulation is not available or an i.v. route is difficult. Simplicity and needle free safety of use of the various embodiments of the invention allows its operation by laypersons, school-teachers, nurses, paramedics and non¬medical persons in e.g. the armed service. Modular embodiments of the invention facilitate mixing and matching of delivery systems with different dosages and types of medications.

摘要: A first source of medical gas has a generally cylindrical male outlet with a cylindrical bore and a threaded outer cylindrical surface. A flexible cylindrical elastomeric medical gas tubing has an input end with a bushing making a flush abutment with the male outlet at the output orifice. An output end attaches to any of a plurality of medical gas utilizing devices, but preferably with a dampening disperser held in position in the space in the vicinity of a patient's nose and mouth. An annular flange of the input end bushing resides within a central cylindrical bored out region extending through the first end and nearly to the second end of a rotatable connector forming an interior surface of a connector with threads coupling with the threads of the male outlet. The second end is an annular abutment against the annular flange holding the input end tubing bushing against the outlet source and providing an airtight coupling. A gripping means is on the exterior surface of the connector.

摘要: An assembly for identifying a power injectable vascular access port, including a vascular access port and an identification feature. The port is structured for power injection and includes a housing and a septum together defining a reservoir. A radiographic feature incorporated into the port is perceivable via x-ray following subcutaneous implantation, the radiographic feature identifying the port as suitable for flowing fluid at a fluid flow rate of at least 1 mL/sec therethrough. A structural feature of the port is perceivable via palpation following subcutaneous implantation, the structural feature identifying the port as suitable for accommodating a pressure within the reservoir of at least 35 psi. The identification feature is separated from the port and confirms that the port is both suitable for flowing fluid at a rate of at least 1 mL/sec therethrough and suitable for accommodating a pressure within the reservoir of at least 35 psi.

摘要: A dual-chamber syringe system is disclosed. Critical system oriented elements are disclosed, including plunger valve designs for accurate measurement and true, non-canting displacement; tamper and inadvertent valve actuation indicators, as well as, valve status indicators; anti-reflux construction; novel indicia patterns for dual-chamber syringe operation; structure and method for quality assurance that no gas can be delivered from a proximal chamber of the dual-chamber syringe and a kit for single step dose transfer. In addition, a tapered fitting valve is disclosed. The tapered fitting valve comprises a single molded incompressible, but supple part and a skeletal support whereby the tapered fitting valve is opened by insertion into a tapered fitting. The preferred embodiment of an actuator portion of the valve is elliptical in shape. The valve opens by compressing a slit which is parallel to, but offset from the major elliptical axis to provide sufficient space for other valve components within a limited size, such as that of a luer fitting. A syringe barrel comprising a skeletal support structure for an affixed valve for a tapered fitting is also disclosed.

摘要: A power-injectable access port suitable for providing subcutaneous access to a patient and suitable for power injection. The access port includes a septum, a housing, and a reservoir defined by the septum and the housing. The septum may include a material that seals passages formed by puncturing the septum with a hollow slender element or another suitable access mechanism, and a radiopaque material forming a selected pattern when an x-ray is taken through the septum for identifying the power-injectable access port as being suitable for power injection. The housing and the septum may be structured for accommodating a pressure developed within the reservoir of at least 35 psi. The power-injectable access port may be designed to accommodate a flow rate of at least 1 milliliter per second of a fluid.

摘要: A method of recording a medicament dose using a data collection device comprises capturing an image of a medicament dose indicator of a medicament delivery device, adjusting a scale of said image, adjusting said image for skew of one or more characters displayed by the medicament dose indicator, determining the position of at least one of said one or more characters in the image, identifying the at least one character using optical character recognition and determining a medicament dose indicator by the medicament dose indicator based on a result of the optical character recognition. The method may be performed using a handheld electronic device comprising a camera, such as a cellphone, a tablet computer or other device. A computer program for controlling a data collection device to perform the method may be provided in the form of a software application or “app”.
