In one of several aspects, the method comprises the steps of providing an intensity image captured by a capturing device, providing a method for determining a depth of at least one element in the intensity image, in a feature detection process detecting at least one feature in the intensity image, wherein the feature detection is performed by processing image intensity information of the intensity image at a scale which depends on the depth of at least one element in the intensity image, and providing a feature descriptor of the at least one detected feature. For example, the feature descriptor contains at least one first parameter based on information provided by the intensity image and at least one second parameter which is indicative of the scale.

A milling unit (50) is arranged on the portal (20) so as to be movable in a translatory manner in a first direction and a second direction transversely to the X-direction (2), and a linear guide (14, 16) which leads through the portal in the X-direction (2) and is intended for a slide (30) carrying a work mounting device (32) and movable in the X-direction (2) is attached to the machine bed (10). In plan form, a part of the machine bed (10) projects beyond the portal (20) in the X-direction (2) at least on one side. The movement device furthermore comprises a second base part, and at least one of the two base parts can be moved in a straight line with respect to the other along a linear guide with a first translational degree of freedom. A support for bearing the second part of the second pair of parts is coupled to the second base part to be able to swivel by means of a swivel joint around a swivel axis which is located at right angles to the linear guide such that the second part of the second pair of parts can be moved by actuating the swivel joint with a second translational degree of freedom on a circular path. The reaction forces and moments which are formed in the machining of the workpiece with the tool are accommodated by the swivel joint which is made stiff; this makes it possible to make the drive means for actuating the swivel joint lightweight. The movement device as claimed in the invention is relatively simple to produce, dynamic and moreover has a high ratio of useful working space to the required construction space.

In an arrangement for laying rail in a railroad track over which railway cars travel, the rails (1) include a lower base flange (1a) and an upper rail head (1b). A molded elastic bearing part (5) is positioned between the lower support member (4) and an upper support plate (3). The elastic part (5) has at least two elements each inclined in the same direction but at different angles to the plane of the track. Extensions of the elements have a common intersection (S) located above the rail flange (1a) on an outer side of the track. As a result, when a load is applied to the track, a circular pivoting motion of the rail takes place about the common intersection (S). Due to the circular pivoting motion the rail head (1d) moves essentially only in the vertical direction, whereby gauge widening does not occur in the rail track when railway cars travel over curved sections of the track.
